Not too far off the expressway, downtown Porter, IN, has a few restaurants and stores. Santiago’s was welcoming and the food is quite good. The enchiladas were smothered in a spicy red sauce. Jalapeños Torreados are deep fried and hit with lime & salt before being served. Guacamole was good, too. Excellent service made the experience even better.

We always enjoy our visit to Santiago’s. It seems like everything there is made from scratch, there is nothing that comes out of a box or from a container, it’s all very good. Very tasty. Their chips and salsa are to-die-for, they are homemade and some are made with corn and others are made with flour, they are very tasty. Some of the best I’ve ever eaten. It definitely is a mom and pop shop, and that’s not to be made light of. very good food, very good service and the building is an older building but it’s neat and clean. Although the new Santiago’s lacks the same charm the old one had, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I would love to see some of the original signature dishes make their way back on to the menu, like Mama’s Specialty Soup, the prices are slightly higher than before, but not outrageous/offensive or too high. We will certainly be back but we will miss mama Manuela walking around checking on everyone.

Excellent food and service! Fresh made tortilla chips, sooo good! I had steak with onion and cheese, and I highly recommend it. Fantastic flavor! We will definitely stop here again!

Atmosphere was friendly but a little “too down to the earth” but it was good. Not a place for a fancy meal for a big occasion but great for a family meal.
