You should definitely stop by here, even if just for lunch or a romantic dinner during the beautiful sunsets. The food is fresh and tasty, with plenty of local appetizers to try—things you won’t find in nearby tavernas. The atmosphere is fantastic.
Because of the low ratings, there usually aren’t many people here. It’s quiet and pleasant.

A true gem in Kalamaki!
From the very first moment, I felt right at home at Giorgos Taverna. The atmosphere is warm and familiar – you can really feel the passion and love behind everything they do. The host, Aristidis, is incredibly attentive and makes a point of personally welcoming and looking after every guest.

The food is absolutely outstanding – fresh, authentic, and made with local ingredients, including fish caught by themselves right in the village. I already miss it and can’t wait to come back. Add to that some great tips, a bit of Raki, and genuine Greek hospitality – simply perfect!

Don’t miss out!

Very nice team, delicious Greek food. Perfect place at the beach. Always a pleasure since 8 years. You have to try the grilled Dorade!

The sea bream is to die for. Convenient location on the promenade. Drop in at sunset for dinner al fresco with breathtaking sunset views.

There is no better place to sit and eat traditional Cretan seafood wonders than at Aristidis Tzagarakis’ wonderful restaurant right by the Gulf of Mesara. I should know, few have dined at more Crete places than my wife and I. Expect perfect seafood, stunning atmosphere, and the nicest people in the world when you visit. I would live here if the town would give me two palm trees to hang my hammock on. Seriously. A great restaurant.

All the 10 dishes we took were below average or very bad… 🙁 Also we had to insist to get the bill. The worst taverna we tried by far.

The only good thing are the swing for the children and the toilets that are clean.

It gathers a lot of kite surfer, if you’re into that, might be a place for you!

I have been to a fair few restaurants now in Kalamaki, but the reception and service I received at Giorgos, was second to none. From the get go, Giorgos (the owner of the restaurant) was incredibly involving and polite to us. He sat next to us and talked us through the menu, suggesting his favorite fresh meals. He was a lovely host. Afterwards, he gave us some Raki to enjoy (where he shared a shot with us).
I recommend Giorgos for its quality of food, its exceptional service, and the view of the stunning waves right next to you.
5 stars from London!
