As I’m not in the area very often, I find the food here to be a welcome break from the only other drive-thru faux Mexican chain. I’ve found the food to be tasty, fresh and seasoned well. The portions to be of a good size and value for the money. The service for the drive-thru has been friendly. Never having been inside, I can’t really speak to the atmosphere.

I’ve ordered from this specific location plenty of times. Normally, things are okay. I’m not sure what happened, if corporate is trying to cut expenses or they have new people in the kitchen, but every taco I received was pitiful in regards to the amount of filling ingredients.
Very little cheese, very little beef, onions mixed in with the lettuce. I stopped going to taco bells for these exact reasons, if I get a taco I’m not ordering a tortilla with accents. If I order a sandwich and it’s 90% bread that isn’t a good sandwich and this location is not selling what I would call good tacos anymore.
I’ll probably go again at some point and if the experience is the same I’m going to drop this review to a single star and write off the entire franchise, the only thing saving the second star at the moment was that in the past it was good most of the time. It shouldn’t be hard to not mess up basic tacos and fill them adequately.
Edit: The next time was better, bumped to 4.

Decent spot for Tex-Mex cravings when you’re near Platteville. I swung by Taco John’s on E Business Hwy 151 recently — the Potato Olés hit the spot: crispy, salty, and dangerously addictive. The tacos were alright — a little basic compared with the Olés but still solid fast-food quality. Service was friendly enough, and the menu has good variety (breakfast burritos, fries, nachos, etc.) for a quick bite. Not gourmet by any stretch, but if you’re hungry, in a rush, or craving some late-night munchies — Taco John’s gets the job done.

I don’t usually go out of my way to leave reviews, but today I felt I had too. We ordered with door dash. And they stole 90% of our order. We called the store and they weren’t angry at all, they re made our order for us no arguing. It’s hard for me and my partner to always go out to get things. We have a new baby, we live on Main Street so we have to walk a good distance to the car everytime we go out. And right now our vehicles tire is damaged so it was really not ideal for us to go pick up our food. But the staff at taco John’s was very friendly and made our time worth it. Good food. Good people.

Customer services is… wow. I placed an order and I removed the dairy products as to not anger my boyfriend’s stomach. I added hot sauce, and oh the drama! Dude that was old enough to be my grandfather and who 100% knew better went “if you can’t eat the food as is, you should just eat at home.” Based off what the manager said this was not his first or even 2nd time saying this. The franchise owner said he would be in touch with me and never was so here I am! Do not go to this location or franchise. They clearly are incapable of hiring competent employees.

Lady at the drive thru was VERY rude. When ordering our food, she made us repeat ourselves a significant amount of times and when we got to the window, she had the size wrong so we told her we wanted a small not a large and she got very temperamental and said “I asked you how many times” and we said we repeated ourselves plenty more times, then she rudely stated “I’ll have to ask you to leave, I don’t need attitude in my drive thru” DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RETURNING EVER AGAIN! IF YOU WANT FRIENDLY SERVICE, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!

Came here tonight. Went through drive through like usual and again like usual we asked for mild sauce and again they didnt give us any. That’s happened to us at least 4 times in a row now. So since we were the only ones there at the time we just went back around to the window. They saw us and totally ignored us. Just standing next to the window. I blew my horn and even my air horn. When they finally came to window the little heavy guy started screaming at us in front of my kids and said next time to park and come in. I told him we just spent $45 dallors and how many times it has happened to us now and told him it’s a simple task. He then grabbed a couple packets (3 or 4) and chucked them into my truck hitting my 10 year old. Before I snapped we just drove off. Should have called the cops… Used to go there once a week at least but will never ever go there again.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Although they are a bit short-staffed, which is understandable, as I am usually not in a rush. The cleanliness is generally acceptable, mainly minor issues with tables not being wiped off. Given that there are only two people running the place—one manager making tacos and one employee handling the registers, drive-thru, and preparing potato olays, desserts, Etc.—it’s clear they are doing their best.
If an additional employee could be hired to assist with either the cash register or drive-thru, it would greatly improve the overall efficiency and cleanliness. Despite this, there are no significant cleanliness issues, and the food preparation is impeccable. The food is exceptional, and the cooking areas are well-maintained, reflecting the overall positive dining experience.
While I was waiting for a churro, the staff kindly provided an extra one, stating, “We threw in an extra one because of the wait.” The wait time was actually quite short, only about 4-5 minutes.
I would recommend this place to a friend or family member.
