Excellent breakfast. Really enjoyed Dilbert’s. The corned beef hash is made in house and is fantastic in an omelette with Swiss cheese. Stuffed hash browns are unique and comforting. They’re filled with cheese, veggies, meat, and sour cream. Pancakes are perfectly fluffy. Service is very friendly and efficient. Even if they’re busy, food is served quickly.

We were looking for a breakfast place on our way home and stumbled upon this charming diner. It is small, but the service is fast so tables turned at a pretty good pace for just a short wait. All the food was amazing – we especially loved the southern omelette, meat lovers skillet, pancakes and toast. The pancakes were among the top we’ve tried (we love basic pancakes and these are it!!). Also, the toast was a nice hearty homemade toast – we tried the sourdough and rye. The service was fast and friendly. The only thing is (and the reason for 4 stars) there were a lot of flies and nats. My guess is this is from the main door being held open, but it was pesky. And my husband had to fish a nat out of his coffee. This won’t stop us from coming back though. Definitely recommend!

Super good fish fry Friday! Also, we ordered the “fish sticks” for our daughter and they were actually legit fish! Never in my life have I seen legit fish option on a kids menu. Very impressed.

We stopped in to Dilbert’s Cafe for breakfast on Saturday morning on our way home from the Homestead.

The parking lot is huge! We were lucky to walk in and grab a table right as it was finished getting bussed and cleaned up. The inside isn’t particularly large, but its very clean. Our server, Justice, is an absolute sweetheart! She had our drinks for us right away even though she had several other tables to tend to. The rest of the staff was very nice and Jovial, as well!

Even though the cafe got quite busy after we sat down, our food came out rather quickly and everything was hot and bang-on and just as we had ordered! The scrambled eggs were perfect! The omelettes were phenomenal. The “half-order” of biscuits and sausage gravy was, honestly, bigger than most of the full order biscuits & gravy that I’ve had elsewhere. Except for a couple of select places that I’ve eaten at in South Carolina and Tennessee, these biscuits were, by far, the best I’ve ever had! The meats were all cooked to perfection! The pancakes were light and airy, and once again, perfect!

Dilbert’s was a little out of the way for us on our usual return route home from the Homestead but it was well worth it! Speaking of well worth it… we got a ton of food rather inexpensively! We are already planning our next visit to the Homestead just to go to Dilbert’s but from now on we will absolutely be adding a stop at Dilbert’s Cafe to enjoy the fantastic feast they provide!

If you’re anywhere near Dilbert’s, do yourself and your family/friends a big solid and stop in for a bite. I promise that you won’t be disappointed!

Keep up the greatness all y’all over there at Dilbert’s Cafe!!! Y’all are just as awesome as the food! We shall return!

This restaurant is a stand-alone building that is arguably in the middle of nowhere, and it is a wonderful place to visit. Personable staff and delicious food. A great place to visit for breakfast if you are in the Interlochen or Traverse City area.

Edit: Portion sizes have decreased and prices have risen over the years. Still great service. Would’ve appreciated more French toast for price advertised. Who wouldn’t?! Bacon was fine, as was the coffee.
