Any selection of wine is available & all kinds of nice imported cheeses and dips! Lots to choose from with all vintages. Super helpful staff as well. Tons of craft beers you may individually. Located conveniently off the interstate ramp. Close to eateries and gasoline.

Poor quality of limited selections.
The male salesperson working the afternoon of Friday October 24,2025 was extremely arrogant and rude which seems to be the standard behavior shoppers have come to expect at the wine shop and actually throughout the capital market. What a shame ! That market was once a vibrant happy place . Perhaps new management and retail workers are over due.

The Wine Shop is an absolute local gem and one of my favorite businesses in Charleston. It’s very conveniently located within the Capitol Market by downtown Charleston. There’s a wide selection of wine, beer (single cans, single bottles, growler taps) and cheese available. The wine prices range from just $10 to very high-end. Don’t be fooled though – even the $10 wine selections are still excellent options and delicious. There is a section of the shop dedicated to West Virginia wine, too. I should also mention that the Wine Shop staff is wonderful. They’re very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and never make you feel pressured. If you have the time, absolutely stop by and check out The Wine Shop!

The Wine Shop is located inside the Capitol Market in Charleston, West Virginia. I was looking for a green Portuguese Vino Verde, but the shop did not have it, only a rosé. However,
The Wine Shop has a selection of domestic wines, mainly from California. There is an impressive selection of French, Italian, Spanish, Italian, German, Argentinian, Peruvian, and Chilean wines. The prices are on the high side, but the quality is excellent.
If you are looking for sparkling wines or Champagnes, you will find a wide selection here as well.
There is a separate glass-enclosed wine room. The Wine Shop also has a variety of European and American cheeses in a refrigerated display case, and crackers and biscuits to serve with them.
The sales clerk who works here was very helpful and knowledgeable. Credit and debit cards are accepted, or you may pay for your order in cash.

The Wine Shop always has an excellent selection with plenty of options regardless of your budget. The staff are all very knowledgeable and helpful, and will help you find something you’ll like if you’re not sure what you’re looking for. The tasting events put on by the Wine Shop are also very educational and are an excellent way to put a taste to the names of different wines. The beer and cheese selections are also well curated and fairly priced. It’s conveniently located in the Capitol Market

Nice selection. Very helpful and friendly staff. They Even had some wines that were under $10, and a lot in the $10 range. Which is what I needed this one time! I’ve never been to Charleston West Virginia. This is a nice market! Fresh produce. I noticed that the meat counter is temporarily closed on Sundays (due to covid-19 scheduling I guess).

For the best wines available in Charleston, head to The Wine Shop. It’s a small shop, so you won’t find an endless variety.
What you do find is a carefully curated selection of excellent wines. And the staff is extremely helpful and able to give excellent advice about pairings and simple wine enjoyment.
There’s also a great selection of craft beers from around the country.
