Went here with my husband for the first time recently. We both felt that the mocktails, atmosphere, and service were excellent!! However, we were a little disappointed with the food (except for the gelato, which was insanely good). Everything was cooked perfectly, but there just wasn’t a lot of flavor. The Brussels sprouts, for example, were a perfect texture and had a nice aioli on them, but if you happened to get a bite without aioli, they tasted like nothing but a Brussels sprout. They could have used some additional seasoning, even just salt. We felt similarly about our entrees – the pistachio crusted haddock was excellently cooked, but we couldn’t taste any saltiness or nuttiness from the pistachios. It made getting through the whole fish a bit of a trudge. For the price, we had hoped for more flavor.
However, the mocktails were so good and the interior of the restaurant is so cute that we would love to come back just for drinks sometime. (And more gelato.)
Also, it’s a bit confusing knowing where in the restaurant to make a reservation when you’ve never been there before, but you can choose either the bar, a table, or the lounge. The lounge for two people has a little tiny table and very cozy chairs, which my husband and I really enjoyed! If you’re going with four people, you’ll probably get seated on couches with a larger table if you choose the lounge.

Just a gem!!! Found this restaurant about 2 years ago and immediately fell in love with it for all the reasons a good dining experience gives you. And it still doesn’t disappoint ( even on Valentine’s Day when you expect restaurants to be slammed and well …struggle…but didn’t despite it being totally full). The food is absolutely delish. Service is wonderful. The atmosphere is simple cozy elegant..
Of course, we highly recommend The Haven Social. Just a gem.
Reminder: BYOB ( bring your own bottle) if you would like wine or other spirits with your meal. They do serve mocktails which are also great.

There are two reasons for the one star rating on the food. The first is the item listed on the menu was not what was served. I ordered what the menu said was a panko breaded pork chop, What I was served was a pork cutlet. The second reason for the one star food rating was the food preparation. I asked if what I thought was going to be a pork chop could be very lightly breaded. The service person said that was possible to do. What I was served was a piece of meat that had breading thicker than the meat itself and was also very crispy. Essentially what I was served was a pork flavored crouton. The service person asked if I would like something else which I passed on since I didn’t want my dining companion to have to wait for another dish to be. prepared.
We were seated at a very small table that was very close to other diners. I would have preferred to have a bit more distance from other patrons.
The service was friendly and attentive and they did comp the dessert we ordered, however I thought with such a big miss on the entree they might have offered to comp the pork cutlet instead of the dessert.

Being from Maryland, where crab cakes are basically a birthright, I have high standards. Finding a good one north of the Mason-Dixon Line is like spotting a unicorn—rare and almost suspicious. But this place? They absolutely crushed it. Seafood night wasn’t even the plan, but we went all in: oysters Rockefeller (my wife’s first) and it met the standard, calamari, a lump crab cake that had my wife raving, and scallops with remoulade for me—seared so perfectly I was tempted to order seconds.
I ordered bourbon(less I assume) pecan pie & gelato and the better half — donuts with millennial flavored gelato :). We both preferred each others but almost licked the plates.
If I had to nitpick (and I do, because I’m from Maryland), the calamari was about three flecks of salt too many away from perfection.
The real surprise? It’s BYO for liquor, beer, and wine, and they don’t exactly make that clear on the website. The drink menu is just mixers with liquor recommendations, so plan ahead unless you’re the type to travel with a bottle of bourbon in your bag.
Even with that curveball, we’ll definitely be back. Next time, we’ll bring the booze.
