We decided to celebrate our anniversary here… A simple neighborhood place. Great food, lovely staff, reasonably priced, and locally owned. Favorites are the fajitas, enchiladas suizas, carnitas. The churros are the bomb! And the margaritas are strong & flavorful. Really like the Black Widow Margarita.

I recently made the journey from Palmdale to experience this charming eatery, and it was well worth it. Though the space is cozy, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff’s attentiveness made us feel right at home.
Our server was exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed. The kitchen deserves special mention; the dishes were bursting with flavor, showcasing the chefs’ dedication and skill.
Overall, the combination of delightful cuisine, attentive service, and a welcoming ambiance made for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area or willing to make the trip.

This place was great. Service was on point every step of the meal. Inside there are beautiful pieces of art. They keep the lights low which is romantic, but not so low you can’t see your food. Food was good. Portions were plentiful. Would come again.

My wife and I decided to come here to grab lunch because we were near by. My wife wanted a new Mexican place so I saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I came right when they open so I got the parking in the front. We got seated right away and then a lot of people starting coming after us. They started off giving us chips and salsa which were really good. My wife got their horchata drink which she loved and I asked for a Pepsi but it was flat so I got water instead. For our entrees, my wife got their Chicken Mole and she really enjoyed her dish. I got the steak and chicken fajitas, I asked for flour tortilla and no beans. When they brought the fajitas to me, it wasn’t sizzling like other places when you see people order it but the dish was hot. The steak and chicken were seasoned nicely but you don’t get a lot of veggies besides onions. I also didn’t get any sauce with it so I used the chips salsa which give it some extra taste. The customer service was great especially when they only had 1 waitress working and we had a great time dining here.

We loved our first meal at Elvira’s. We’re vegetarian and sometimes have difficulty finding quality vegetarian Mexican food. That definitely was not a problem at Elvira’s.
We ordered a vegetarian fajita salad and a vegetarian fajita with an extra order of tortillas so I could share it with my young son. We also had a Corona Light and a 20 oz. 805 draft beer.
The veggie fajita came with thinly sliced yellow squash, zucchini, onion and green pepper served on a smoking hot cat iron skillet. They were well seasoned and tender crisp. The fajita came with a small side of guacamole and salsa, plus Mexican rice and black beans. This was a truly delicious meal–maybe in the top 3 best vegetarian Mexican meals I’ve ever had.
The veggie fajita salad was prepared table side. Check out the photo of our waiter preparing it. It included the same vegetables as the traditional fajita, but with lettuce, avocado and dressing. My wife really liked it, but she craved starchy food with it, so she ate one of my tortillas.
I highly recommend Elvira’s for an authentic Mexican experience. The staff were so friendly, including the owner, who stopped by to chat. Prices are reasonable, too, and the service was amazing, but if you’re going on a weekend night ( Fri/Sat), definitely arrive early (by 5:30) or you’ll have a long Wait for seating and to have your meal.

So anyone who is looking for some good food you will not be disappointed. This place will get you right. Me and my sister came to visit Revelation Church and was in Simi Valley for 5 day and this was the place we ate all 5 days. We tried something different on the menu everyday and was never disappointed. Not only was the food delicious but the staff was amazing, the prices are affordable, and the service is fast! The must have are; the table side guacamole, the chicken or shrimp wraps, fajita salad, Camarones a la Diablo shrimp, and fajita el patron, the drinks are also really good; I loved the horchata and my sister enjoyed the BIG Margarita and the hibiscus. However everything is delicious!!! I will miss this place when we get back to Myrtle Beach SC. WE WILL BE BACK!!! Christina thank you for the awesome food, great service and wonderful conversations. You will see us again. Blessings

After all the hoopla in my Simi Valley Foodie’s group I had to try this place. I heard it is super good, super busy, and has excellent service. We went on a Saturday evening at around 8:00 PM and it was about 75% full so we got a booth table that was so ridiculously tight we barely fit in. I thought the decor and vibe were top-rated.
The service was excellent. I could not have asked for better service. It was the food that I think is both mediocre for my taste and relatively expensive. All three of us rated our dishes at about a 7 out of 10. Sighting that the salsas and chile sauces were very mild and lacked heat. Very odd to have no heat at all on three dishes and a salsa bowl. My Chile Verde dish, which is my staple dish, was slightly above average but lacked deep chile flavor and heat. One of my guests ordered the Spinach Enchiladas and thought they had potential but did not really have a great and distinct chile flavor. The third dish was generous portion of a child’s bean and rice burrito combo dish, that came rice-less inside the burrito, but scored well on flavor.
We all felt the beans were ok, but are only half mashed. We would have preferred refried to go with our dishes. The Spanish Rice was, in all our opinions, excellent as were the flour tortillas.
The salsa was okay but again lacked chile flavor and heat. I actually took some home, added some of my New Mexico dried chili peppers, and it came to life. At least in our opinion.
Lastly, the presentation of the dishes were gorgeous. Just like the decor. I am certain that over time the types of issues I have noted can be easily fixed. I do look forward to trying it again, soon.

Love this cute place! One of these stars is dedicated to the free tootsie rolls.
Everyone is super friendly and the food is spiced differently so it doesn’t taste like every other Mexican restaurant.
Just loved it and loved reading their story on the menu.

Wow, what a sweet find! Great atmosphere, delicious authentic Mexican food, and very friendly welcoming staff. The service was excellent! We talked with the owners and what a breath of fresh air. They make a point to chat with all of their customers. Homey and friendly place. Did I mention incredible salsa and large glasses for margaritas and beer! Delicious food. I felt like I was eating in my grandma’s kitchen. They are expanding and will have a cantina next door. Great place! Enjoy! We will definitely be coming back, I’m sure with regularity. Thank you Tim and Christina for an enjoyable evening out!
