What is the best real authentic Arab restaurant in Sacramento area?
Reviews
One thing to mention — when I checked Google it was showing as closed, but I called and they were actually open when I went. So it might be worth calling to confirm before heading there.
Overall a great spot if you like Mediterranean food. Definitely worth trying.
One complaint I do have is that I asked for extra toom (garlic sauce) and they gave me coleslaw???
Quite literally not a drop of garlic sauce in any of the sandwiches we had ordered. This annoyed me a bit because I asked for extra and was looking forward to the garlic specifically. The prices aren’t bad and seem reasonable for this place and keep in mind that it seems to be a shared space so there is also another seller within.
I would probably come again with the hopes of getting actual garlic sauce, otherwise, I can’t see myself coming back
They also do have Syrian sweets but I didn’t get the opportunity to try those.
-1 star overall for giving me coleslaw instead of garlic
-1 star for giving me ketchup with shawarma…
Taste of Damascus
If the moon personally came down from the sky, called me out by my name, and offered to tell me the deepest secrets of the universe; I would say “Shhhhh. I’m eating shawarma. Please leave me alone.”
From the first bite to the last, the streets of Syria called my name. They said “Abby, please eat more shawarma”
This was my second time in my life indulging in a slow-roasted, thinly sliced, marinated meat, served in a flatbread like pita.
At first when entering Taste of Damascus, we found ourselves a tad confused by the layout, just because there was a USA flag and a Jamaica flag on the wall, but upon beginning the ordering process our confusing faded away.
My friend had a shawarma plate and the hummus was very nice!
The price is just a taaaad bit high, but I would occasionally spend that much money to experience more shawarma (I like shawarma).
Overall, very amazing and wonderful shawarma (my opinion probably isn’t very reliable, because I’m not very experienced in this specific and delicious food item)!
You should go here!
Every dish, from the perfectly grilled kebabs to the rich shoaf showcased the incredible culinary traditions of the region. I highly recommend the shawarma—both chicken and lamb are outstanding—and the barbecue, which is simply divine. and the staff treats you like family. If you’re searching for genuine Syrian cuisine that reminds you of home, Taste of Damascus is the place to be!
