We left “My Italian Friend” feeling quite deceived. We ordered two main dishes—fish for 28 and meat for 32. The waiter asked «what sides do you want with that? We have potato, pasta and salad.» We chose potato and salad, thinking this was part of the meal. I even commented to my boyfriend how it made the high price more reasonable. However, when we paid, the bill was much higher than expected! Turns out, the sides were an additional 6 euros each. And for tap water, we were charged 3.50 euros! We found this approach misleading and not respectful. While the food was okay, not even great, the lack of transparency soured the experience. We won’t be returning.

Nice surprise on a visit to Waterloo. We hadn’t booked but they were accommodating with a 1.5 hour slot which was enough for us. Service was generally very sweet. Food was good, nice wine recommendation. Loved the burratina e bresaola, tomatoes were so flavorful. Tartufo lasagna was tasty, a little on the rich side, I was grateful to have a little lemon to squeeze on it to counter.

Way too expensive for what it is !
To be sure it’s a nice place and food was nice (not exceptional but honest and good) but we had to order before 7pm and the place closed at 8pm … the location is nice ( it also functions as a speciality shop ) and food was good but I expect an overall much better experience for the very high prices they charge . Our waiter was a student who didn’t remember what glass of wine I previously ordered and he seemed not to know much about the food he is serving after we had a few questions . So it’s a well meaning 3 star.

Very pleased with this hidden gem of a place – and when I say hidden, I mean it literally. Tourists like myself would be puzzled by the awning with the restaurant name but see the storefront of a clothing and housewares store through the windows. This place is an all-in-one shop that, in addition to the above-mentioned, includes a deli counter and small grocery…PLUS a restaurant, which is located at the back. You will have to walk through the store to get to the dining area. Consider dining on the patio and gazing out at the garden in the back.
It was relatively quiet when we arrived but service was quick and friendly. The menu has many unique dishes but my brother and I both opted for pasta. We could hear the happy chef in the kitchen singing while preparing our meals. Both dishes were very tasty; so much so that we opted to return the next night and sample more of the menu. If you’re craving Italian and you’re in Waterloo, this is where you want to be.

Extremely disappointing experience due to the owner’s behavior.
We came as a group of six people, 4 kids. Despite spending a reasonable amount and behaving respectfully, the owner made us feel extremely unwelcome.
She complained about the number of children at the table and insinuated that we hadn’t consumed enough to justify occupying it — even though the table was clearly available and not reserved when we arrived. Her attitude was rude, dismissive, and entirely inappropriate for someone running a hospitality business.
The staff themselves were polite, but the owner’s treatment of customers is unacceptable and ruined the entire experience. I cannot recommend this place to families or anyone expecting decent service.

We ordered a catered lunch from MyItalianFriends for a business event for 50 persons. The food was great, very tasty and the portions were very generous. Everyone really appreciated. Big thank you to MyItalianFriends team for delivering such a delicious buffet and a great service!

We were isolated in one small room, which was very noisy once it was packed (there are no other words) with people.
Food quantity was not that great. I could have bought food from the retail part of the store (not really fan of eating in a retail store).
Price was quite high, especially for the portion sizes.
The waiter was great, and we had good fun. Although a small glitch on the teapots… I’m always surprised how some restaurants can be stingy on the small size of the teapot filled with just hot water and a bag of tea.
I’m sure it’ll appeal to some, but it was just not for me.

If you want to have a nice delicious meal and you have no problem with bad customer service, then this is your place. We went with my husband and daughter for a lunch, we ordered one business lunch and a plate with spaghetti and shrimps. We were waiting and waiting, imagine one of the waiters asked us if we want coffee, as he thought we had finished eating! We asked what happened and our meal is not ready yet after 45 minutes, to get the answer from the chief waiter that nothing is wrong, and that we ordered 10 minutes ago! To mention here, that customers that arrived later were already eating their meal! It was really frustrating that he did not admit that a mistake was made. After almost one hour wait our plates arrived. Yes the food is delicious! At the end, the chef came and apologised saying that our order has been put aside by accident, which I find honest. Anyway, however nice the food is, for me what it is important is the customer service.
