My son and I went back again today and they are amazingly consistent! Service and food are outstanding. I added additional pics for reference.

I took my ten-year-old here for an early dinner and was delighted with the tasty food and friendly service. The atmosphere is inviting with a modern spin. It was happy hour, so I tried the poke bowl paired with a hot sake. My son had the kids’ bento box with tofu. The fresh and flavorful food makes us eager to return soon! 5/5 stars!

I haven’t been here in such a long time, but while I was back in town I wanted to try it again and I’m glad I did. Food was great first off, and by the way happy hour mondays is all day long. $5 sake bombs, good appetizers, and good rolls. The menu is extremely large and diverse as well. Our server, Bobby was attentive, and very well versed in the menu and answered all of the questions we asked. I enjoyed my Ninja roll, and the Gyoza the most. The tempura roll was also good, I want to come back and try the Cadillac roll.

A nice little modern, sushi joint with a huge menu. Hubby and I went for a cute lunch date. This place was recommended to us and it was warm enough to sit outside. Dog-friendly patio.

I love a good bento box and their’s was solid. The California rolls and chicken teriyaki were good, but the tonkatsu was super dry. I’d skip that. I also tried their Cadillac roll with steak. It was huge, but I wouldn’t order it again.

The best part of the meal was the salad dressing. I kid you not. It was the best Japanese salad dressing I’ve ever had. It’s so good, they even bottle it! It was $9, but I had to have it.

We’ll be back to try more rolls.

My favorite sushi place anywhere in the bay area. They have great rolls, the charred edamame is so good. I’ve never had anything that isn’t fresh and flavorful. Everyday happy hour is also a plus!

My aunt, nephew, and cousin joined me for lunch as I had recommended Akira. My first visit here went well so I decided to give it another try.

My cousin ordered a bento box with teriyaki salmon. He was satisfied with the amount of food, quality ingredients, and savory. Overall he said 8/10.

My aunt and I split 3 sushi rolls.
The deep fried roll had a decent flavor but felt too heavy so we were unable to finish it.
The roll with steak on top was the favorite of the night. Very tasty & filling.
The 3rd roll was also delicious. Slightly spicy with the sauces and I asked for the jalapeño on the side. My aunt ate those and loved it, personally I’m not a fan.

Overall it was good quality food, excellent service and nice atmosphere.

My only complaint would be the very slow service. The restaurant was about halfway full but it still took almost an hour to receive our order.

*side note- there is only 1 restroom & there’s usually a line so keep that in mind. My nephew & cousin ended up going to the Starbucks next door because someone had been in there for over 20 mins*

We were very excited to check out Akira in Aptos. We ordered a handful of things to share, such as the crispy rice, edamame, and a handful of rolls. The crispy rice was really delicious. Overall we were happy with the rolls as well, as everything was quite decent.

The portion sizes were also extremely generous for the pricepoint.

Overall a positive experience!

Akira in Aptos is a solid choice for sushi lovers, offering a dining experience that’s worth a visit. The restaurant’s extensive menu is one of its standout features, boasting a rich array of options that cater to various tastes and preferences.

The server we encountered was notably friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations was appreciated, especially when navigating the extensive options.

While the food at Akira is generally good, there’s room for improvement in terms of taste. Some dishes could benefit from a bit more refinement to truly elevate the flavors.

One aspect that slightly detracts from the experience is the restroom situation. During busy periods, the facilities can become overcrowded, which may cause some inconvenience for diners.

The restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, suitable for both casual dinners and special occasions. The sushi bar provides an opportunity to watch the chefs at work, adding an element of entertainment to your meal.

In conclusion, Akira in Aptos is a commendable sushi spot with a few areas for improvement. Its strengths lie in its diverse menu, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere. With some fine-tuning of flavors and attention to facility management during peak hours, Akira has the potential to become a top-tier sushi destination in the area.

Rolls and appetizer were “OK”. Server was pleasant, but service was off with rolls showing up well before the appetizers and check getting swapped with another party. Unsettling ambiance – a bit on the louder side with hockey game playing on the TVs behind the sushi bar accentuating the early evening draft coming in from entrance doors propped open to allow customers lined up at the door to peer over your meal as they wait for your table.
