Also, the massive lime tree in front of the restaurant provides a gorgeous natural canopy of shade, protecting diners from the hot sun on a summer’s day.
The service overall was very good and the staff is cordial.
However, the food was a letdown. I ordered a non-veg thali and could tell it wasn’t fresh. I informed them and they immediately replaced it, which I appreciated. Even the second serving didn’t feel fresh, and I didn’t feel good after eating it.
Great service, but the food quality really needs improvement.
The restaurant is pleasant, simply decorated and almost minimalist; a clean look. We liked the tables are not crammed together but have enough space there is at least some sense of “on your own”.
Service was good right out of the gate and all staff were friendly and attentive as they could be given the occasional chaos. If there was a shortcoming it was the drink service, which was well behind the food service.
We both ordered separate items so we could taste test and of items, the Sri Lankan Beef rolls, Beet Watermelon and Feta salad, and the King Fish Steak deserve mention. Overall, the meal left us pleasantly full and very satisfied. Spices were on the mark.
The only unpleasant moment was out of control of the restaurant, as a homeless person came in loudly and rudely; disrupting things for 3-4 minutes while they warmed up. Staff were very good at handling the situation. It would be wise for the City of Nelson to address this much broader downtown challenge.
The decor of the restaurant is so beautiful, and the service was fantastic. We really had a great dining experience overall! Can’t wait to come back.
Everyone was so welcoming and kind. I have a lot of food sensitives/allergies now, and the chef was so good about asking what I couldn’t eat, and making me a delicious shrimp curry. I was BLOWN AWAY. I’m going to try and replicate it when I get back home. But somehow, I don’t think I’ll get close. I’m already sad that I’d have to drive 8 hours to have this food again. But 100% will be coming back. We had a group of 14, and I heard ZERO complaints. And we are pretty particular about our food. Twas Truly a Treat ♥️.
PS. I loved that the names of the dishes were in Tamil (written phonetically in English). IT MADE ME SO HAPPY
