Just jetted into Phoenix and went straight to one of our favourite restaurants, Comedor Guadalajara. The wait was sort 5 or 10 minutes, and when we were seated we were treated to nacho chips and a smoking hot salsa. Then the brought us out complimentary soup which was delicious. The horchata we ordered was massive, next time we will get the children’s size! My wife ordered the shredded meat taco and chicken enchilada. I had the chimichanga with red pepper sauce. Fantastic flavours and presentation. We could only eat half of our meals and took the rest home for breakfast! Always a treat when we come to Phoenix, come here you won’t be disappointed!

This is a family-friendly Mexican restaurant. It was almost full when we went there in the morning. Chilaqueles and Albondigas (meatball) soup tasted good. Menudo soup was also flavorful. Plenty of free parking. Saw a long line waiting outside when we left.

Before going in, I had my doubts about the area. The building was old and dated, but it had that authentic family restaurant feel. We were told it was one of the best restaurants in Phoenix, and I completely disagree. The chips and salsa were good, but they didn’t bring us plates, which made eating very difficult. We sat at a huge table, even though there were only two of us. I ordered Molcajete de camaronynopal, and my dad ordered combo plate number 4. When our plates arrived, we were surprised to be given knives. Just knives. No napkins. No forks. Not even spoons. Who does that? As for the molcajete, it was more like soup than anything else. For a molcajete, it was way too watery, awful. It barely had any shrimp or nopal. The corn tortillas were cold, and while the plate was hot, the rest of the food wasn’t. The rice and beans were dry and cold. The beans tasted like they’d been canned. My dad’s combo meal number 4 wasn’t any better. The food looked dry and clearly wasn’t fresh. Even the soda tasted like water. Maybe it’s just a case of inconsistent quality, but overall, it was a disappointing experience.

This is an amazing and authentic Mexican restaurant. Don’t let the dated building fool you! On the inside, you’ll feel like you’re attending a family event and the staff makes you feel like family too! I only had the Green Chile Beef burrito, enchilada style, smothered in green sauce.
My wife asked me to bring her home the same thing, a relleno and a taco. Even though I had an hour drive home, she loved it all and said the taco was AMAZING! In fact, she said she could eat endless tacos if that was an option
Needless to say, I’ll make sure to stop in again next time I’m in the area!

This restaurant is HUGE! but the service is always top notch excellent. This is the place where local Hispanics eat, so you know it’s authentic. I recommend the enchiladas Camerones I do half red half green sauce out this world flavors. I travel to Phoenix about two times a year to see my parents. I always do my best to visit comedor Guadalajara. It’s family owned and highly respected Mexican restaurant amazing food just a few miles from the airport. Their really known for there red enchilada sauce but on Saturday’s and Sunday’s they offer a hearty and rich Menudo. 100% recommend!

Quality food and above average flavors. The salsa was spicy and delicious. The green chile was tender. The red sauce was okay, definitely preferred the green. The rice and beans were both seasoned well. The asada had a nice grill flavor and some char which was a pleasant surprise.
The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming.
*** average food
**** above average food at a reasonable price.
***** Unique and delicious food. The drive is worth the price.

We got the whole family together for Easter weekend and decided to stop by Comedor Guadalajara for lunch. It was a Saturday, and even with a party of 8, the wait was just under 20 minutes which is pretty amazing for a busy holiday weekend.
We ordered a variety of dishes including menudo, tampiqueña (carne asada plate), chimichanga, and a combination plate and every single item was delicious. You could taste the authenticity in every bite.
Now here’s the part that really stood out. Our server didn’t write down a single thing. He memorized the entire order for 8 people and nothing was missed. That kind of service is rare and super impressive.
The food, the service, and the overall experience were all spot on. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Phoenix with great service, I absolutely recommend Comedor Guadalajara. We’ll definitely be back.

This place is very interesting. First of all I went there for lunch during the week on a Wednesday. Not sure if this result was due to the holiday season but the amount of people that were there and the wait time was comparable to you having breakfast on the weekend at a restaurant. I must say I was very impressed that so many people were here and waiting to get in this restaurant jampacked. Meanwhile, after I was seated, we ordered our food and I must say it was delicious. I think this is a popular place for a lot of the city of Phoenix employees as well as the police department and fire as many of the customers or representing the employers. I totally recommend this place and enjoy.

We have ordered from here for work events and everyone absolutely loved all the food. I finally got the chance to have a dine in lunch and really enjoyed the experience. The service was very good, the food came out quickly, very warm/hot and tasted wonderful. It’s popular for a reason. Recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal, whether that’s dine in or take away.
