Boru is a great spot if you’re looking for creative, modern takes on Japanese comfort food. The menu strikes a nice balance between familiar flavors and bold twists, especially for noodle lovers.

The Crawfish Mazemen is a standout—thick, brothless noodles coated in a rich, spicy sauce with mala seasoning that delivers real heat without overpowering the dish. The fried crawfish tails add a satisfying crunch, while the crispy garlic chips and negi oil bring everything together. It’s indulgent, flavorful, and definitely one of those dishes you keep thinking about afterward.

The Chashu Bowl is more subtle but equally well executed. The combination of kikurage mushrooms, spinach, ajitama egg, and sesame seeds over rice feels balanced and comforting. The pork chashu is tender and savory, and the karamiso adds a nice depth of flavor.

We also tried the Sugoi fries, which were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned, making them an easy crowd-pleasing starter.
The bao buns with karaage were another highlight—soft, fluffy buns paired with crispy, juicy fried chicken and bold flavors that really popped.

Service really elevated the experience—Peter, our waiter, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive. He took the time to explain menu items, made thoughtful recommendations, and checked in at just the right moments without being intrusive.

Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, creativity, and excellent service justify it. Overall, Boru is a strong choice for anyone who enjoys modern Japanese cuisine with bold flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.

I had SO MUCH FUN HERE!!! Everything was amazing, from Service, food, drinks, desserts, AND GAMES!!! I recommend going here for a night out. I started off with the fried chicken as an appetizer, and had the chicken katsu curry for my entree!! Amazing!!!! Their cocktails were just as good as well. I’m not a big mule fan, but boy did they make me fall in love with the plum mule After all the delicious, I hit up sweet society after to get their soft serve and then played arcades!!! 10/10 environment, service, and food. I definitely recommend checking them out if you haven’t. I’m 100% satisfied:)

The hostess and server were efficient and indifferent. I had called ahead of time to clarify address since Google visually showed location on Essen but listed something closer to downtown. The caller didn’t recognize they might report the problem to management, but I reported to Google for a correction. Service In person was as unimpressive.

I got the vegan shoyu; the selection of vegetables and mushrooms were outstanding, but the broth wasn’t a flavorful base.

I loved the bright lights from the claw machines. The last stretch between the machines and restroom was a little dark and awkward (as was a mirror over the handicap toilet), like a theatre screen section and dingey stairs.

Around $20 after tip for water and soup.

Went with a group of 6, the food and service was great. The inside did get a bit loud around 7 PM but almost every table was full. We ordered a few different apps and all different mains with no complaints from anyone. We will definitely be back. Portions were large and very affordable pricing.

Attached is also a dessert place and a claw machine arcade. Would make for a nice date night

Just come for the claw machines, because the food is pretty bleak. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with black garlic, but apparently the garlic didn’t get the invite. Bland doesn’t even begin to cover it.

The menu said the chef was trained in Japan…must have been an online class. I lived in Japan and the vending machine ramen was better than this. The takoyaki was decent, so that saved this review from total collapse. But I came for the ramen, and wow…what a letdown.

Also, it’s hotter inside than it is outside. Ever tried eating soup in a sauna? Same vibe. Please, turn on the AC.

Edit: came back for another try, this time I tried the Tonkatsu Rouge Ramen in the hopes of getting something more flavorful. Once again I was dissapointed. The whole dish is just bland. I never leave the broth and now twice I didn’t finish my meal.

This place is nothing short of exceptional. The food, vibe, and staff make your dining experience so pleasurable. They have not missed perfection at any of my visits, Olivia & Lorell were so attentive during my last visit, I had to share with the world. See you-all soon for the chicken katsu. 🙂

Food was exceptional. Wong Wings were seasoned perfectly, Chicken Katsu was cooked just right, and the Sugoi Fries were FIYA. Service was top tier as usual, never a bad experience when you dine with Boru Ramen. As an added bonus, Sweet Society frozen treats is located inside the restaurant as well as an arcade for the kiddos.

The flavor of the dish was fantastic! Great spice, nice heat, wonderful blending of textures. That said, for $17.00, it should have more than 3 thin slices of pork. So, while the flavor was fantastic and my order prepared quickly, I can only give it 3 stars for being over-priced for what you get.
