The OK Cafe opened its doors July 8, 1987 and so great was the longing for a true southern restaurant that by the end of the first week it had become an Atlanta phenomenon with crowds standing in line to get in. Today it serves more customers than any other full service restaurant in Georgia. People come to the OK Cafe for the quality of the food and the sort of menu your grandmother would make for Sunday dinner, if you had a grandma who could cook that is. Mix in an uncle who was a short order cook at the best grill in town, and you’ve got the family recipes that make the OK Cafe so popular.
Old-fashioned diner with a Southern slant, complete with milkshakes, meatloaf & a jukebox.

The Turkey Avocado Sprouts BLT and Roasted Chicken Salad Sandwich were fresh, flavorful, and really well made. We finished with a walnut cake that tasted like something straight from a home kitchen. Despite the crowd, the staff stayed calm, welcoming, and attentive.
Fantastic food and genuinely good service—just make sure you’re not in a hurry.
Food quality was excellent! Atmosphere and service top-notch! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic food, comfort, food, southern comfort, food… And a great experience. It’s probably why they’ve been here for many many decades..
Typically, we prefer to sit at the kitchen counter to observe the chefs while they cook. Alternatively, we sit at a table with our guests, each of which features its own sitting booth, a semi-private area.
We have sampled most of the dishes on their menu over the years. Everything is delicious. If you are a big eater, consider trying one of their signature blue plates.
By the way, Southerners refer Coca-Cola as Coke. And if you want an iced tea mixed with lemonade, order an Arnold Palmer; they’ll treat you like “the King”.
The atmosphere at OK Cafe is simply amazing. They’ve done an incredible job with the theme, and every detail from the decor to the classic staff uniforms is perfectly executed. We were seated right away, which was a great start.
The food is the real star of the show. You can tell they pride themselves on fresh ingredients with no preservatives, and it shines through in the taste. I had the meatloaf and it was absolutely delicious—true comfort food. We also started with the fried pickles, and they were a huge hit with the whole table!
Our service was okay, but it didn’t quite match the high standards of the food and atmosphere. It wasn’t bad, just not particularly attentive.
Overall, we had a wonderful meal and a great experience. We will definitely be back for more of that amazing food and hope the service is a little more on point next time!
Be sure to explore the restaurant as each section is a little different and the takeaway area is also fun.
They have daily specials that bring in some fun flavors and keep things fresh.
The fried pickles, meatloaf and chocolate fudge cake are some of my family’s faves. The cake is moist and crumbly just like grandma used to make!
