Great Food and Excellent Service, but a Rough First and Last Impression
We went to Lester’s Diner in Fort Lauderdale and overall had a good experience, mostly thanks to our waitress Alicia. The place has that classic diner vibe, and the food itself tasted great.
Alicia was wonderful from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. She made sure we had everything we needed and really helped make the meal enjoyable. The only downside with the food was that it came out a bit cold, which was disappointing, but the flavors were still solid.
Unfortunately, the woman who seated us and later handled checkout really took away from the experience. When she walked us toward our table, she threw the menus down without saying a word and walked off. At checkout, she called “next,” rolled her eyes, and had an awful tone when we approached, like we were inconveniencing her just by paying. It was uncomfortable and unnecessary.
Because of Alicia and the quality of the food, I’d still come back, but the front-of-house attitude definitely needs improvement. With better consistency in service, this place could easily be a standout.

We had Athenia Salmon and Cobb Salad. Everything was delicious . Portions were large. Recommend ordering the beet salad as one of your sides. Chocolate chip cookies were humongous. Great Iced Tea. Everyone was friendly, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu. We will be back on our next trip!!

The Homemade Meatloaf Sandwich and the Chicken & Waffles were both hearty and ‘tasty as heck’–just like Grandma used to make. But the real showstoppers? The Open-Face Beef Brisket and that legendary Beef Brisket Lester’s Melt. Absolutely delicious! Great food, jukebox vibes, and top-notch service. If you’re in Florida, don’t be a square–make sure to stop by Lester’s!

Very nice diner. Clean fast and friendly service Nancy was our waitress very friendly. Better to go to Lester’s than to eat at Hotel breakfast and cheaper and better food. My husband very picky about his eggs. Over med. not too runny, perfect. He order the Lester 222. And was able to get and extra order of toast

I’m a real fan of Diners and this is one of the best!
They have real pies, Southern (charm) service and almost anything you could want on a menu.
I had a tuna melt with cheddar cheese on the bread, a pickle, and coslaw.
We then ordered cherry pie a la model and a black and white cookie.
My only complaint was that the pie wasn’t warmed up, and the cookie had the hard royal icing and not the soft one. Other than that the food was SO GOOD and it was a fun environment.

Wow! Such excellent food. The menu is extensive from Greek selections like the gyro plate to bakalava. I had the lamb shanks which were really tender with great mashers. James was a great server! We finished the meal off with Ultimate chocolate cake. The decor was cool diner style with lots of mirrors and chrome. Nice bar are with draft and bottles.
Update: We had to go back for breakfast! I got the spartan omelette with gyro met feta and tzatziki sauce. Wife split the 222. Everything was great.

If you are in or passing by Fort Lauderdale DO NOT skip this place. We went for three days in a row to have lunch. It has:

10/10! Really regret not eating here sooner. The service was fantastic. I had a coffee, pancake and a turkey club sandwich and it was all amazing. The pancake was fluffy and crisp *chefs kiss* and my club sandwich hit the spot! My waiter was very attentive and responsive. You definitely need to stop by next time you’re in the mood for breakfast and lunch!

Had not been here in a decade or so, and was Delighted to Dine on one of my all- time-favs and it was as Good as I Remembered it! I had Eggs Florentine w Home Fries & Coffee. Very Satisfying. I got a Napoleon dessert To GO. I love that Lester’s is not only STILL around, but they’re STILL the BEST Food & Service around. Always Open, Diverse Menu, Excellent service. Check them out for yourself!
