The food is delicious here, and the atmosphere is modern and hip. The servers are kind, but a little slow. But if you aren’t in a hurry it’s great. We got the Mango Spicy Margarita, Whiskey Smash, Burger and Brussels Sprouts

Food was delicious but the hook is, you can’t get it. We watched as one overwhelmed waitress tried to take care of the whole place. This is a shame. It took a very long time to get a drink, a salad, and some food. When the food finally got there, it was cold and there was nobody to warm it up.Because there was no service. Finally, the waitress offered to give us 25% off. However this was not reflected in the bill and we did pay full price. Feel food was delicious but, and drinks were very good , but very , very late. THey really should do something about this because it’s potentially a very good place.

Really enjoyed this restaurant which is inside of The Schoolhouse Hotel. Very nice atmosphere, staff really friendly and accommodating. We had dinner and then went back for brunch the next day. Both meals sooo delicious! Only negative would be it takes some time to get the food after ordering. Not a huge deal if you just want to relax and enjoy yourself but if in a hurry may be a factor. I will definitely go back for sure!

Food was okay.. Maple old fashioned was amazing, and the cherry was muddled too which made it even better. However, I have to say the service was pretty poor and extremely slow. We sat a total of 2 hours waiting for drinks, food, etc. The soup was mushroom soup was incredibly salty and the beet salad served beets cold, which was odd. The duck was good.

Please ignore the negative reviews! It seems as though people do not give new businesses a chance when sharing their experiences. Olivia was our server, she was the best! Super friendly and personal. The food is next level. We eat at the local restaurants regularly and The Varsity Club has raised the bar here in the Greenbrier Valley. Forget the restaurants at the hotel, eat here instead! We will definitely be revisiting and hope everyone checks this place out. Highly recommend!!!

What a wonderful casual meal! The restaurant is spacious and the tables large enough for two people and the extra plates for bread and wine glasses. The food was prepared extremely well, elegant and flavorful. The short rib roast was not over cooked (hard to do at most restaurants) and the carrot side was not canned, overcooked mush but instead fresh and cooked enough that they were firm but not raw. The Ahi Tuna was a large enough portion and perfectly cooked. The crust was delightful with pistachio and other spices. Fresh onion pasta was a surprise that made it more delicious plated with a yummy green tomato chow-chow.

Our server was so friendly and helpful with other recommendations for our stay. The town is sadly not reaping benefits from the bougie Greenbrier overpriced resort visitors. It was nice to see updated and modern but still good edible entrees.

For those who didn’t rate high, I imagine they are afraid of the atmosphere and prices for the entrees. It is NOT chain food quality so the prices won’t be chain prices. Our meal was comparable to meals we eat locally in NC in our small town. I will gladly pay this price for a meal that we enjoyed and was prepared perfectly.

I recommend that this is a better option than the overpriced Greenbrier meals. ($20 for a Reuben sandwich that was nothing special or even good.)

We waited more than 5 min for hostess, who then told us she had reservations for all tables (even tho 2/3 of tables were empty). We asked if we could sit at bar. She said yes, but hadn’t offered that option. She continued to turn people away while we eat. At one point, the waiter seated four people, and then she made them get up and leave. 2/3 of the tables remained empty the entire time. Then, a couple was seated at the bar, then invited to move to a table. We were not.

The waiter brought our coffee with cream, but forgot the sugar (that he had asked about). Then he brought the sugar. But we had to ask for spoons. He brought the food, but we had to ask for other silverware. English muffin had no butter on it, so I had to ask for that.

Atmosphere was great. Service was good but we served ourselves at a buffet. No menu items. Food was okay. Definitely not $70 + per person for omelette and some French toast and meats. My sons ate mashed potatoes and gravy with some Mac and cheese…made them try some meat at carving station. But for 3 people ended up being $275 and there were no prices anywhere. Then online it shows you can pick up same breakfast to go for $4 a biscuit and average prices for other items. Disappointed for Mother’s Day paying that price. Buffet it was Nothing spectacular and dessert table was cookies and some brownies laying out.

My husband and I were in visiting family and decided to have dinner at the The Varisty Club. The resultant and The school house is very cool and has a nice atmosphere. The drink were good and the food was ok. To us it wasn’t worth the price, even more so for a small town. We both got the ribeye, my brother got a hamburger and my sister in law got the filet mignon. We shared the scallops to start and I had a Cesar salad. The scallops were amazing!!! The salad was ok. It was like they too a whole heart of romaine and chopped the bottom off and threw it on a plate and drizzled the dressing over it. Not nearly enough dressing. The steaks and burger are good and cooked well. The sides we got with our meals were average. The vegetables were a little undercooked. We order and extra side of the Mac and cheese were highly disappointed. It tasted like watered down Mac and cheese with barely a hint of cheese. Definitely not worth the $12. Our server was amazing and very attentive!

Over all it was a pretty cool place. Growing up here and seeing the transformation was pretty interesting. I doubt we will be back but if we are maybe we’ll try the Roof Top!
