Up the Creek is a long established family owned and operated restaurant located on the bank of Gore Creek. We pride ourselves on using the freshest ingredients, wild game, sustainable seafood, extensive wine list, and craft cocktails. We offer daily lunch and dinner service and can accommodate private events year round.
Warm, neutral-toned dining room in a creekside setting serving a farm-fresh American menu.

Up the creek but definitely not without a paddle. The seared duck was paired amazingly with the sweet potato and fig sauce. The asparagus was tender and flavorful. While the broccolini was somewhat lacking the bone in pork chop and garlic mashed potatoes were superb. The real star of the show was the bacon jam that was paired with the chop. The drinks could be improved, only one beer on tap and a limited selection of wine by the glass. The manager was attentive but the servers could stand to have their attire reviewed. At $50+ per plate I dont want to see my servers boxers. Overall very happy with our experience. We will definitely be back to try more.

Good food but the menu doesn’t change much. For the price I might expect a little more inspiration on the menu. But the service was good and location was great with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

One of the absolute best dining spots in Vail and easily a must-try. This is one of the original restaurants in town, and it shows in all the right ways. The short rib was incredible—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was rich and delicious, total comfort food done right. The crab cakes were packed with flavor, and the oysters were surprisingly fresh, which is saying a lot for the mountains.
The location couldn’t be better, with an amazing patio that makes the whole experience even better. Great food, great atmosphere, and a true Vail classic. Highly recommend.

Considering the prices, Im very disappointed. First thing was that the host wasn’t very friendly. Next, our food took about 45 minutes to come out and there was no apology or attempt to make it right. The worst part was that the food was so mediocre. To pay as much as we did, and wait as long as we did, for a sandwich that had basic deli meat and cheap bread was so upsetting. The fries were so basic, like fast food mcdonalds type of fries. Also, my 4-year old’s kids meal was $25. Which wouldn’t be a problem if the food and service reflected the prices properly, but it didn’t. The only nice thing about the place was the atmosphere.

We had an amazing dining experience at Up the Creek in the Vail Village. This a very charming atmosphere made even better with a view of the neighboring creek. The staff from the front to the back were exceptionally friendly and spot on with their service. Our waiter Francisco was top.drawer (makes a mean old fashion) and the Elk Tomahawk steak was superb and a perfectly prepared medium rare as recommended by the chef. If you are in the Vail Village make this restaurant a must!

The service was fabulous, Francisco was super friendly and attentive at all times…
the food was great… we loved the carpaccio…
the only thing is that they bring out the main menu at 4pm… very late after lunch time.
But they still managed to bring us 1 main dish.

Made a 12:30 pm reservation so I could ski in the morning then walk over for lunch. I recommend this place. I’ve been coming here for at least 15 years and it’s always delicious.
Started with the truffle fries which came out quick, which was nice. I was hungry from skiing. The arugula and pear salad good. The short ribs are good but I usually get the trout.
Just order dessert. They are all good. I ate the dessert before I took a picture.
During the summer this place is great as well. Sit outside along the creek for a nice lunch or dinner.

We love going to Up the Creek! Been here several times and every time the service and food is outstanding. I love that it’s a laid back vibe with a classy menu. Right next to the creek it’s always peaceful. The staff is always friendly and the service is quick. Here’s our favorite dishes (honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!): scallops and prawns, mac & cheese, pork chop, elk, non fried calamari and the whipped butter with the dinner bread is so good!
Not only do we love eating here for everyday occasions, we also hosted our wedding welcome party at Up the Creek. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food and awesome service. Mike and team were so great to work with and they created a killer custom menu for our event

Love the location of this restaurant. Hugging by the river and opens up to a beautiful ground that’s perfect for kids to run around. Depends on your preference, you can be at the place that feels like so secluded or in the middle of all actions.
Food is simply amazing! Too notch quality. We really enjoy everything we ordered. So surprisingly delicious.

We loved this place because it was quiet and calm, compare to other restaurants in Saturday afternoon. The tartar was good, the gyro was good, we also shared the brownie which was awesome. I would rate my martini as 3/5, but I probably misheard what kind of vodka they use, I would ask for alternative.
