Great bistro with fabulous french dishes and great service. Cool vibe with good music and great seating options. We sat on the bar and it was perfect. The beef tartar was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The gnocchi and the steak were absolutely gorgeous. Great coffee as well.

Sat outside and had the most delicious French food for my birthday lunch (even got a little candle with our dessert). Great atmosphere and attentive service. One of my favourite restaurants. We’ll be returning and recommending to others. If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend the chefs menu (the fish was our favourite).

Very disappointed with the experience here. The staff were friendly, aesthetic was nice and food was good. However for the $130 price I expected much more, we got portions that weren’t even big enough for a 12 year old. What I have shown is literally all we got plus 2 pieces of bread each for the entree. I understand it was a set menu but this is absolute day light robbery to charge that price!!!

We tried their $55 2 course lunch (available Fri-Sun). Good deal considering the location and branding, portion is decent too, drawback is only 2-3 options to choose from.

Incredible food and atmosphere at Smith St Bistrot.
We shared scallops and Heirloom Tomatoes for entree and the for mains we shared Steak, sides of Broccolini, Fries. Great flavours and reasonable sized serves.
Wine was Rose and Then Grenache Syrah, so delightful.
Staff were top notch. So friendly and warm, but efficient and brisk.
Desert was soufflé. Again shared.
Atmosphere was French vibe; dark tones with candle light feel without going over the top.
Not the cheapest meal but real value for money.
Can’t wait to go back again.

We loved the ambience…even down to the fluted upholstery seating which meant you both get to enjoy the view of the restaurant and enjoy intimate conversation.

Well, who would have thought that this absolute little treasure is tucked away on Smith Street in Collingwood?
From the moment we arrived, it felt as though we had been transported to old-world France. The food was exquisite — beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and thoughtfully presented. Every dish felt authentic and generous, the kind of cooking that makes you slow down and savour every bite.
The atmosphere was pure perfection — warm, intimate and effortlessly charming. It had that magical combination of elegance and comfort that makes you want to linger long after the plates are cleared.
But what truly elevated the entire experience to another level was Liv. Her service was exceptional — kind, attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely warm. She made us feel so welcome and cared for without ever being intrusive. Every dish was amazing, and the staff were so polite and respectful — they even explained the option halal menu clearly.
The place was a little crowded and noisy, but the food and service made up for it.

I went there for lunch celebrating a special birthday with some close friends. Service lovely and accommodating after an initial problem finding the booking. Food was amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant was friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Have a date with my boyfriend tonight, the waitress and waiter here are so nice and well aware of the service details. For food, they are all good and I will highly recommend the chicken liver and smoked salmon. The music and atmosphere is retro and cozy which let the dinner become extra special. ☺️
