Anh Hong feels like the kind of neighborhood spot locals try to keep to themselves. The menu is broad, the portions are generous, and everything tastes like it’s made the way it should be, not watered down for convenience.
The Bun Bo Hue is amazing. Deep, clean broth with real depth of flavor, not overly salty, and packed with fresh herbs and tender meat. The bánh xèo comes out crisp and sizzling, loaded with fillings and perfect for wrapping in lettuce and dipping. Even the small things, like the pickled veggies and house sauces, taste fresh and balanced.
Service is warm and straightforward. No fuss. Melissa, our host, is just genuinely kind people who make you feel welcome and keep things moving. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which makes it an easy regular spot, not just a special occasion place.
The service is just as incredible as the food. The owner is so kind and welcoming, and the waitstaff is impeccable—attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. This is a must-visit every time I’m in Orlando. Anh Hong isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience.
Unfortunately, today’s experience was disappointing due to the service. We ordered a large lunch, nine dishes in total, and the waiter did not write anything down. As the food began arriving, I was dealing with an emergency situation of canceling and booking new flights, and by the time I realized that two people’s orders were missing, everyone else at the table had nearly finished eating.
When the waiter was finally available, I asked about the missing dishes. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he showed me the receipt and pointed out that those items were not listed. I had to explain that this was because he hadn’t written the order down and even reminded him of the specific comments he had made about those dishes when we ordered. He then asked if we wanted the dishes prepared at that point, but it had already been over an hour, and we had shared our food with the two people whose meals were missing. We declined.
What made the situation more frustrating was the complete lack of an apology. While we still enjoy Anh Hong for its food and casual atmosphere, this service experience was disappointing and fell short of what we’ve come to expect over the years.
The inside is clean and has such a warm, homey vibe. We were greeted right away with a smile, which always makes a difference! We couldn’t stay to eat in this time, so we just grabbed some takeout to-go.
The gentleman who helped us (I think he might be the owner or manager) was incredibly friendly and made the whole process easy. Even though we haven’t taken the first bite yet, the service alone makes me want to come back.
I’ll be sure to update this review once we get home and taste everything, but so far, so good!
UPDATE: The Pho is a winner. My husband and daughter loves it. I guess will be stopping by here when we’re in the area.
The standout dish is definitely the steamed round cakes—five small plates of warm rice cakes with various toppings. The heated serving dish keeps them warm until the very last bite, which makes them especially delicious. The rice crepes with grilled pork were also excellent.
On the downside, the BBH broth was quite light and overall below average. Also the passionfruit juice tasted a bit watered down. Their own branded water bottle was a fun surprise.
The high number of online reviews might be influenced by staff encouraging every dine-in customer to leave one—but hey, don’t hate the player, hate the game lol. I’d still come back to try more dishes next time.
The staff were friendly and attentive. They checked in frequently. Overall, it just felt like a place that cares about both the food and the people eating it.
