The original DQ in Moorhead gets the spotlight in town for good reason, but the Freez also deserves a mention. This is an old-school, soft-serve ice cream spot w/ fast service, outdoor seating, and a gravel parking lot. It’s not fancy, but it’s fun ‘cuz it offers a large variety of sundaes

Nice little stop in to Tastee Freez on a beautiful day in Moorhead. We sat outside and enjoyed some ice cream, it was great. Another plus, was there was no line and we had fast, great service. The worker provided the recommendations too us. My husband got the brownie ice cream sundae, which was amazing. Ice cream was great, brownies pieces were soft and delicious and the whipped cream was also good. I got the strawberry shortcake sundae (it was on special for $3.63). It did not disappoint, was also very good ice cream and shortcake on the bottom with lots of strawberry topping. Enjoyable visit and will be back.

The BBQs are the best and it’s the only ice cream place around where I can get a chocolate dipped cone with nuts. Two thumbs up…worth the stop.

Weird they didn’t have to-go covers and such, and if you don’t know what to order right away, the staff are a tad antsy about it, but I get that. Still makes ordering a little anxiety- inducing though.
Banana splits are still our favorite thing though because the candy shake things are mostly just soft serve with a very small amount of candies mixed throughout and one solid lump on top…and still just white soft serve at the bottom of the cup. I remember back in the day when this place was better than DQ…I no definitely longer think that. Tis a shame but it is what it is.

Went here with my wife for the first time last weekend. I had a blue raspberry Bonnie bar and my wife had cheesecake bar. The service and food we’re both great! We will be back.
P.S. we are aware of the tipping incident but since we didn’t get the whole story I will withhold judgment. I’m guessing it’s not quite as scandalous as the media led us to believe.

Average ice cream place, food is good. Been a gathering place for years…in light of 2024 new ownership and bad pr regarding an employee plus the new owners view if you leave a large tip you must have dementia will have me going elsewhere.
Now that it’s up for sale again hence previous reviews regarding higher prices and watered down ice cream karma served. Hope someone with better management skills brings it back to life
