Mexican Post has a pretty good atmosphere. Not hardline authentic Mexican but definitely a good Tex-Mex type atmosphere to me. The menu generally reflects more of a Tex-Mex selection as well. Even then the decor and furniture was very tasteful and the bar area was very cozy and felt more like a neighborhood bar. Overall the service I’ve had was very good each time I visited. The servers were attentive with my questions as well as keeping my drinks filled. If they keep that consistent I would say that they have been some of the best service I’ve had in the area.
As mentioned, the menu has more a Tex-Mex focus. They also have a focus on different types of tequila as well with a pretty good selection of them from what I’ve seen. The first time I was there, I had a chimichanga and an order of their queso. First as a quick note, yes the chips and salsa they serve is a bit smaller per helping, but as for someone like me who is usually eating solo, this is about the right helping size. The queso was pretty good and also a nice generous helping. The chimichanga had a nice crisp tortilla and the beef was very flavorful. My only gripe would be I wanted more of it (especially for the price). On subsequent visits though, I ended up ordering a chicken taco and a California burrito. I enjoy their chicken tacos; the meat is nice and moist and has a good flavor to it and their tacos are generously stuffed with goodies. The California burrito though…is more like a Texas burrito to me (there’s no rice inside the burrito compared with the typical Cali-style burrito). Doesn’t mean it wasn’t good because I very much enjoyed that burrito as well. The meat was nice and juicy and the beans and rice on the side were also very good as well.
If you’re looking for a neighborhood Mexican restaurant that has a some good food and a nice neighborhood atmosphere, I would definitely visit Mexican Post.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the owner made the experience even better. You can tell they put a lot of care into both their food and their hospitality. If you’re looking for amazing Mexican food and drinks that hit the spot every time, this is definitely the place to go.
We went on a Saturday evening around 6pm. Fairly crowded but no wait. Great atmosphere. Ample parking.
We go here often. Highly recommend if you like Mexican food.
