Enjoyed my bday weekend here! It definitely was a vibe thanks to my love bug and her friend. Had the cheeseburger and fries and a few appetizers, everything was tasty and good. Drinks was hitting and caught happy hour 30 mins before it was over. Big shout out to our waitress (DESTINY) she was amazing, patient , lovely and very kind hearted. I wanted to leave her a tip but couldn’t due to my card not being the card that was used to pay the bill. If I ever go back I hope I can get her again so I can leave her that tip she deserved.

Review for Mai Thai Tiki Bar (MPM) – Short Pump
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you haven’t been to MPM Tiki Bar in Short Pump yet, stop what you’re doing and go. This spot is a total vibe, but the food and the service are what really elevate it to a local legend status.
The Standout: The Brussels Sprouts
I’m going to make a bold claim: these are the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. Period. They are perfectly charred and crispy, hitting that incredible balance of savory with a hint of sweetness. Usually, sprouts are just a side thought, but here, they’re the main event. If they ever took these off the menu, there would be a riot.
The Food
We also dove into the Crispy Pork Belly, and it did not disappoint. It had that perfect “crunch” on the outside while staying tender on the inside, topped with fresh cilantro that brightened the whole dish. The dipping sauce provided that extra kick that makes you want to order a second round immediately.
The Service
What truly made our night was our server, Alexa. She was absolutely amazing—attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a great energy that fit the tiki vibe perfectly. It’s rare to find service that is both professional and genuinely friendly, but she nailed it.
Bottom Line: Whether you’re here for the tropical cocktails or the killer food, you’re in for a treat. Request Alexa, order the sprouts (trust me), and enjoy the best meal in Short Pump.

I have been a fan of MPM Tiki bar since they opened in Short Pump and resided at the old place. This restaurant serves asian fusion bites with some Thai and Vietnamese specialties. The family owners are fully involved either bartending or waiting on tables and their customer service has not changed since Day 1. My fave cocktail , The Marinda, beautiful to view and delightful to sip. One of my fav appetizers, crab wontons (sorry I was busy enjoying and then realized I need to take photos lol ). My other favorite appetizer that I did not order today, is the Thai eviche (so flavorful and fresh). I tried the spicy chicken lettuce wraps (level 2) and another win in my book, maybe do level 3 next time. Okay and for entree, Classic fried rice, Thai Street (Yummy!!l. This is one post I am not talking about prices because the quality is worth the price paid, plus they have daily happy hour 2-6, which is when I visited. By the way, DJ night is Friday and Karoke night is Saturday. Okay, enough of me writing, go try this place for yourself!

***be VERY weary of allergic reactions. my sisters boyfriend has a shellfish allergy, he got a dish that didn’t have ANY seafood (the pineapple with rice in it, can’t remember the name). we believe he had a piece of shrimp in his food which is ridiculous! cross contamination is very important to be weary of, allergic of not! we told the server, the food wasn’t even taken off the bill. he ended up going to go to Bon Secour because of the reaction, they had to leave in the middle of us eating. some people are not as lucky, please be careful! they need to step up on watching cross contamination, it’s a big deal. i can’t tell you how scared and angry we were.

the positives: it’s hard to give a bad rating with the food being so good. i have been wanting to go here for over a year now, i worked at Staples where we made the menus and everything looked so good. i absolutely loved the atmosphere and lighting. i got the Samurai Sandwich ($16) and i definitely recommended it, one of the best sandwiches i’ve had! the kimchi was a nice touch, the fries are amazing. the espresso martini was small for $14, so was the margarita. we were a party of six, so gratuity was applied. server was attentive and very nice! the parking lot is nearby so it’s easy to find parking.

A little girls dinner on a school night with two of my sidekicks @mpmtikibar. The space is so inviting and the staff is amazing! We decided to give their Monday $10 burger special (Larb Burger 4/5 and Tiki Burger 3.4/5) served with piping hot fries (5/5) a try but we also found some pretty refreshingly delicious drinks (shout out to the bartender, lol…the pain killer and mango mojito both 5/5), Crab Rangoon were huge with plenty of filling (4.1/5) and the Korean sauced wings (4.6/5) and Honey BBQ (4.1/5)crispy but still juicy and massive wings! If in SP give them a try! Gotta make it back for HH!
Updated: their thai food options are top tier, went last night and the food was excellent!

Food was great & portions were large. Only complaint was sticky & wobbly table, no small plates with appetizer & really wanted a fun tiki style non-alcoholic drink for my grandchildren. Will definitely go back but these are items that could easily make the experience even better.

Thai food was great. Beer was cold so thats always a plus. Good selection of beer and liquor also. Thai Hot is definitely the way to go for me. I love the heat. Hotter the better, and to be able to wash it down with a cold beer. Ahhhh nothing better.

Fantastic spot! The food was great, svc even better and there is an impressive drink list. Also, the owner is apparently a bourbon aficionado so there is an impressive bourbon collection for a Thai restaurant. I will definitely be back when in Short Pump. They also have a large private bar and room in the back, I’m considering it for a group dinner as I truly enjoyed the spot. Plenty of parking in an adjacent garage .

First visit here after several local visits. Quite a nice vibe. Great service from staff (Ric, Violet, JoJo)! Delicious smoked Old Fashion & La Rosa cocktails.
Reasonably priced oysters on half shell, hanger steak, egg plant and Calamari! Quick and attentive a service. Well worth the visit.

The vibe mixed with the excitement of a sports bar makes it the perfect place to relax or cheer on your team. Drinks are creative and strong, with a great selection of cocktails. The food is tasty, well-portioned, and perfect for sharing. Staff are friendly and keep the energy lively. Whether you’re coming for game night, happy hour, or just to hang out with friends, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend for a casual night out with great vibes!
