We happened to walk into this place by chance, and it turned out to be a great find.
It was cold and we were really hungry, but the owner and staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing.
I usually think of Chinese food as being heavy or overly greasy, but this was clean, well-balanced, and genuinely enjoyable.
A hidden gem — definitely a treasure we were lucky to discover!

Prices are outrageous 20$ for General Tso Chicken and 21.95 for Beef and Broccoli? And they only give you one rice? It should at least be the rectangular container to get a bit more for 20/21 dollars! Crazy!!!

I usually enjoy this spot, but the chicken fried rice? No. The chicken was sliced so thin there was literally nothing there, and the rice was just soy sauce on plain rice. No scallions, no peas… no effort. They have to do better with their fried rice!!!!

I had high hopes for Soo Chow, but it was a bit of a mixed bag. Let’s break it down:

Pork Soup Dumplings – So So…. The dough was too thick, and the filling was missing that punch of flavor. I was hoping for a burst of rich broth, but instead, I got a mouthful of… dough.

Sesame Chicken – Hands down, the MVP of the night. Exactly as ordered, crispy, sweet, and savory with just the right amount of sauce. If I had to pick one dish to come back for, this would be it.

Spicy Cold Cucumbers – More like “lukewarm soggy cucumbers.” They were drowning in liquid and seriously lacked spice. I like my cucumbers to have a kick, not swim in a bath.

House Fried Rice – Dry and bland. It was like eating leftovers that had been sitting out too long. A little soy sauce or something could’ve saved it.

Kung Pao Chicken – Portion size? Small. Main ingredient? Onions and green peppers. I was on a scavenger hunt for the chicken.

Hot and Sour Soup – Just ok. It didn’t wow me, but it didn’t offend me either.

The service was a bright spot. The woman taking to-go orders was super kind, knowledgeable, and polite. She even invited us to sit and enjoy a cup of tea while we waited. Little moments like that make a difference.

But… here’s the kicker. They forgot the fortune cookies. I mean, come on! How do you end a Chinese takeout meal without the final prophecy? I was left with no closure, just a bag of regret and a craving for answers.

I’d give Soo Chow another shot, but I’m bringing my own fortune cookies next time.

Authentic Northern pasta, Taiwanese beef noodles, soy milk, fried dough sticks, and Sichuan cuisine – the food is delicious, the service is great, and the restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting. Give it a try and become a customer – highly recommended! Parking free.

A very humble and down to earth restaurant. The food is delicious and price is reasonable. They made good noodle soup and soup dumplings. I would definitely come back again!

Decided to try out this restaurant due to all the great reviews….what a disappointment! I have eaten at Chinese restaurants for many decades, mostly in Chinatowns, and would not consider the food here very good. We tried three dishes: the diced chicken (way too salty), the sweet and sour pork, and the salt and pepper squid (their version of calamari). I agree with most of the other reviews that the service was terrible. The wait staff really have no idea what service means other than to the minimum of bringing your food out. We were ignored most of the time we were there. It took half an hour before anyone even came to our table to take our order. The next thing we noticed is that guests who came in after us were being served their food as we continued to wait. We finally had to ask how long before our food would come. No one checked in with us the entire time. We had to get their attention to get more tea, again for napkins, again for a to go box, again for the check. We got tired of waiting for them to come back to accept our payment and finally just got up to pay at the cashier. I am usually generous with tip, but for the first time in a really long time, decided I cannot tip them when the service was so lacking. As we left, a waiter chased after us demanding tip. Finally, they noticed us!

Updated review as of June 20, 2023. New owner took over and now it’s an authentic Sichuan food which is yummy. Food is good but not your typical American Chinese food which tends to be salt and sugary brown sauce, so you know what you expect at this place. Some Sichuan dishes might be fried and has lots of chilli flakes, that’s normal. For example, the sichuan chicken dish which has lots of red chilli pepper and that’s just the way it is. I will share some photos next time. Enjoy!

I feel bad for giving a two-star review during these times, but the quality of the food was just not good. We ordered for pick up via Grub Hub one Sunday afternoon. Here is what we had:

Soup dumpling with crab meat and pork – this was mediocre at best. The dumpling skin texture was not bad so maybe I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it would probably have tasted better if eaten fresh at the restaurant, and not as takeout

Marinated duck – I guess ‘marinated’ is code for ‘old’ because this duck tasted like it was several days old. Definitely avoid this dish

Seafood pan-fried noodle dish – definitely not worth the $20+ we spent on it. They used imitation crab meat, there were only like three shrimp, and the rest of the seafood (squid and fish) was just not fresh. The sauce actually had a nice flavor to it but the consistency was just too thick and gloppy. I’ve been watching a lot of Kitchen Nightmares lately and honestly, this looked like it could be a dish on the ‘before’ menu on an episode of that show. I’m sure Gordon Ramsay would have had a few choice words for this dish.

I think it’s best to stick to the basic menu items here. You probably can’t go wrong with some chicken/broccoli or fried rice.

Very authentic Shanghainese dishes. We ordered the takeout and they advised us the price has increased a bit. Pan pried pork bun(生煎包) 6 pieces $10, homemade zongzi (a sticky rice ball with braised meat wrapped in bamboo leaves肉粽) $5, soup dumplings (小籠湯包) 6 pieces $8, stir-fry veggie (炒豆苗) $20 but they were all delicious .
