If you want a “Fast-food”, go to McDonald or Bk. If you want a chilled laid back experience, come to Penny’s. Food was great and the service was exceptional: our server Jessica was just a sweetheart, very attentive and friendly. See pics for what we ordered. And don’t forget that apple pie ice cream dessert.

We’d driven past this place for years before finally giving it a shot. The food is cooked fresh in front of you as it should be in a proper diner. Good portions, and everything tastes pretty good. The service was good, though the place itself is extremely small and cramped.

First off, I think our server was new while, he was incredibly polite. He was obviously not trained. The system was confusing and how to place your order through the QR code. We had food before we had silverware and drinks. The food came out at all different times. Lots of things were forgotten. We had to ask for syrup, for cream for the coffee, and for the rest of our order. No one checked on us outside of our server. And it wasn’t very clean.

On vacation in Harper’s Ferry and we wanted diner good on our way home. Penny’s came up on our Google search. I didn’t know what to expect when we pulled in and found an attached to a Travelodge hotel but we gave it a try. Our breakfast food was absolutely awesome. There are booths, paralleling the open kitchen. The chef cooked our food and leaned over and put it down on our table. Bacon and eggs were perfect as were pancakes. I highly recommend this diner.

My daughter and I went this past week. The lady who was the cook was AWFUL! My food was served on chipped dishes, eggs were burnt and pancakes were chewy. The ONLY reason I brought my daughter here is because a coulple weeks ago, the guy who cooked for my friend and me was served quality food. The food and service received were top-notch. I took a chance going to this place after my husband and I took a 5 year hiatus because the food and service had gotten so bad. After my friend and I visited, I thought FINALLY, it’s back to good food and service. But NOPE! The girl cooking Saturday afternoon around 2/3ish, on November 22nd, 2025, was the WORST. Who doesn’t know how to cook pancakes! CHEWY PANCAKES! Also, the server, though not the worst, was not very good either as she was slow, unattentive, and unaware. For example, she didn’t know the menu, overcharged us, and we had to explain the items and prices. Management for this place has not been the best. Sadly, it appears, that’s still the case.

Ordered carryout by phone, it was ready within 10 minutes, and I picked it up quickly and easily. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. I visited once many years earlier, for breakfast I think. That time I ate inside, and the food didn’t impress me. But based on the last couple visits I won’t hesitate to go back. It’s not a place I would go for the atmosphere, but that’s irrelevant for carryout. The price seemed reasonable for the size and quality of the dinner.

Since our first step onto the property, hospitality was amazing. Brittney is extremely kind, and made our check in so smooth! Once we settled in our room, we came to Penny’s Diner to eat. Paula made our food, and it was DELICIOUS! The mushroom Swiss burger was soooo tasty the pancakes too. Thank you Brittney & Paula for making our first evening in wonderful! 🙂

It’s classic American diner experience and the location is convenient. Tables felt a little sticky also the cooking units looked greasy. It was Saturday and this place also serves as the breakfast spot for the motel next door, so the place was packed. There were only one waiter and one cook so we waited quite long for our order.
