Our server, an older gentleman, was fantastic—kind, funny, and really added to the atmosphere. Later in the evening, we realized he also doubled as the security at the door, which makes sense since this spot transitions into more of a restaurant-bar hybrid perfect for late-night drinks on the weekends. It does tend to get louder as it got later.
As for the food, it was decent but not overly impressive for the price point. The lobster gnocchi stood out as the best dish at the table, while the steak plate and branzino, though fine, felt underwhelming compared to other places we’ve tried for less.
Overall, Buvette isn’t somewhere I’d rush back to for dinner, but it does seem like a great spot for cocktails and a fun night out.
Definitely a different vibe by the bar than the restaurant. The selection of drinks isn’t too bad, you’re sure to find something to your liking. Price point aligns with the area at ~$20/cocktail, side of fries are $15, we got a dessert platter to share for $40 where you had a selection of 3 desserts, the cheesecakes were delish! Highly recommended.
People tend to keep to their space which is nice considering the tight space. Hats off to servers for keeping up with the crowd.
They do have a coat check if you’re visiting in the winter it’s quite handy to avoid crowding the space further.
The food was absolutely delicious with plenty of options for everyone—vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers. I had the beet salad with grilled chicken and goat cheese, while my girlfriends ordered the beef gnocchi, calamari, Buvette burrata, and mushroom risotto. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor.
Since the birthday girl is 9 months pregnant , the team went above and beyond by making her a special virgin margarita with organic ingredients, which she loved. To make the night even more memorable, they surprised her with two generous slices of cheesecake and played her favorite birthday song. Such a thoughtful gesture!
The music was awesome, the atmosphere was lively yet cozy, and the whole night felt really special. After 11pm, the place transforms into a semi-club scene—the music gets louder, the crowd gets bigger, and by midnight it’s packed with people from all over southern Ontario.
My only concern is the bathrooms—all of them are located upstairs. So if you have difficulty with stairs, it may not be the most accessible spot.
Overall, highly recommend Buvette for birthdays, celebrations, or even just a fun night out!
The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for both a casual dinner and a special occasion. The decor is stylish yet comfortable, creating an atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment.
The menu offers an impressive selection of dishes, we particularly enjoyed BLACK ANGUS bone-in ribeye steak . which was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, and you can truly taste the care and attention that goes into each plate.
The staff was knowledgeable and passionate, providing excellent recommendations that paired wonderfully with our meal. It felt wonderful to explore new flavors and find the perfect wine to complement our dining experience.
The service was outstanding.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience!
Buvette offers a trendy ambiance and a menu that leans confidently into contemporary bistro fare.
Our server was efficient and attentive, particularly when we flagged a gluten intolerance in our party. She responded with care and diligence, ensuring dietary needs would be respected throughout the meal. While her demeanor occasionally felt awkward, her commitment to service was clear.
We began with the crab cakes, which were a standout. Crisp on the outside, tender and flavourful within, they were well complemented by pickled onion, sweet corn, and a creamy salsa verde. The addition of baby pea shoots added a fresh, vibrant note that elevated the plate.
Next came the steak frites. The New York strip arrived slightly undercooked for a medium-rare request and was unusually cut into very thick slices. The fries, dusted with parmesan, lacked the promised truffle essence but still served as a pleasant pairing. Surprisingly the real hero of the dish was the chimichurri—bright, herbaceous, and perfectly matched to the richness of the steak.
To accompany the meal, we selected a Côte du Rhône, reasonably priced and well-suited to the flavors on the table. It offered a balanced structure that complemented both the seafood and the beef.
The evening was a birthday celebration, and while the gesture of a complimentary dessert was appreciated, the choice—a cookie-based cheesecake—was unfortunately unsuitable for our gluten-free birthday guest! It was a small but noticeable lapse that added to the server’s discomfort.
Overall, Buvette delivers a good yet slightly pricey dining experience with a few moments of culinary finesse. While there were a few missteps, the quality of the food earns it a moderate recommendation.
For the mains, I tried the seafood linguine, which had stunning king prawns, a rich creamy sauce, and a generous serving with beautiful presentation. For dessert, we all had a bit of the chocolate dessert option that the birthday girl ordered, and I was truly blown away. The ganache on top was a warm, soft whipped chocolate that was light; the main body of the dish was a medium-density cake that melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the sauce.
I personally love making—and by extension, eating—chocolate desserts, and this one is the best I’ve had in years. I was kind of annoyed, actually, because I couldn’t figure out how I could replicate something of that quality—ha ha. Finally, the service and staff were very well-dressed, extremely friendly and professional, and really treated our younger group with respect. When I’m back in Burlington next, I am excited to revisit the restaurant as often as I can. Thanks for an amazing meal.
