Pho Moi in Katoomba is clearly a local favourite, and for good reason. We visited at lunchtime and found the restaurant packed – a testament to its popularity. The wait was around 10-15 minutes for a table, which felt reasonable given the half of the crowd was waiting for a table and the other half for takeaway.

Once seated, the food did not disappoint. The standout dish was the Crispy Pork with Rice. The pork was perfectly cooked with a fantastic crunch, flavorful seasoning, and just the right amount of fat. It was absolutely delicious and satisfying. The pho broth was also rich and aromatic.

Portions across the dishes are reasonable and will leave you feeling full. The service, while bustling, was efficient and friendly.

The main point to note is the pricing. With most dishes sitting between $22-$25, it’s certainly at the higher end for Vietnamese cuisine. However, the quality of ingredients and execution helps justify the cost.

Overall, a great spot for a flavorful and hearty meal. Just be prepared for a potential short wait during peak times – it’s worth the wait for that crispy pork!

After a long day driving and exploring the Blue Mountains, we stopped in Katoomba for lunch. Since we’re heading to Vietnam soon, we were excited to try some local Vietnamese food and decided on Pho Moi. The place was busy, which gave us high hopes.

Unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing. From ordering to receiving our meals, everything took quite a while, and we were really hoping the food would make the wait worthwhile. Sadly, it didn’t.

The dishes were overly salty, lacked depth of flavour, and felt heavier and more fried than expected. In our experience, Vietnamese food is usually light, fresh, and packed with vibrant flavours, this felt like the opposite.

We left feeling full, but not satisfied. More like we’d wasted our hunger on a meal that didn’t quite hit the mark.

Little place at the end of the main strip. Busy on a Thursday for lunch but we got a table. Food was very tasty and well done. The restaurant itself is basic and practical. Good value for money.

I was so excited to finally find a Vietnamese place in Katoomba – We had been craving a proper Pho – but sadly this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we ever had.

The Pho was a complete letdown. The broth was bland and lifeless, with barely any depth of flavour. Ingredients were stingy to the point of being insulting – no fresh coriander at all, just 8 tiny leaves of Thai basil and 4 small pieces of fresh chilli split between three bowls. At $20 a bowl, that’s a joke. On top of that, they don’t even use fresh rice noodles, only cheap dehydrated ones, and the hoisin sauce was watered down beyond recognition.

While the girl who took our order was friendly, the male waitstaff were flat-out rude. The younger guy with long dark hair actually told us “move, I need to wipe the table” – zero manners. The bald waiter serving food and drinks would just dump items on the table without a word and walk off. The whole atmosphere made us feel unwelcome, like we were a burden rather than paying customers.

And to top it off, this place is definitely not run by authentic Vietnamese operators – the lack of hospitality shows. If you’ve ever been to Vietnam, you’ll know true Vietnamese service is warm, respectful, and welcoming – this was the complete opposite.

Pho Moi was an utter disappointment from start to finish. Terrible food, rude service, and not worth a cent. I would never recommend this place and will never return.

This restaurant is an amazing place for lunch or dinner. The food is spectacular and served in generous portions. The service is excellent, and the staff are friendly. The only downside is that the tables are quite small, but the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Be aware that the kitchen closes at 3:00 PM.

The best pho soup we had in a while. The pho broth is simply amazing and very tasteful. Fast friendly service and reasonable prices, too. Definitely highly recommend and definitely worth the short wait for a table.

Cozy Spot with Warm Service on a Cold Night
Visited Pho Moi in Katoomba on a chilly evening (just 7°C!), and it was one of the few places still open after 6 PM—a lifesaver!

The restaurant is run by energetic and friendly young staff who keep things moving, even with a constant queue of soup-craving customers. The menu has plenty of options—we tried the pho, dry noodles, and pork rice.

While the food was fairly average across the board—nothing stood out strongly in flavor—the hot soup definitely hit the spot given the freezing weather. ❄️

A solid choice if you’re in need of something warm and convenient late in the day, especially when most other places are closed!

Visited this spot during a long weekend and noticed that they were constantly busy, so decided to try it out as it must be good!
We did have to wait a while (30 minutes) for a table, which wasn’t great especially as it was so cold out, but the phó was honestly worth it. I ordered the vegetation noodle soup, and it was so wholesome, warming, and delicious, and packed with yummy vegetables, tofu, and noodles. I’d definitely recommend. The vegan spring rolls were also amazing! I just wish they had more vegetarian options, there’s really only a couple of choices.
