Merritt’s is a cool and very unique place to stop for a bite to eat. It has all of its mid century charm as they have been in business since 1958. The food isn’t anything groundbreaking or anything, it’s what you would expect for a drive in burger stand. Not that it’s bad by any means, they excel at the niche they are in. Not too many places left around like this and we love to try and go to retro restaurants when we can.

The waitress here is awesome! Food was alright. Chili slaw dog was pretty good. Burgers not good, dry and definitely not homemade, like the steak sandwich. My daughter had a hard piece of something in her burger. Shrimp was eh, rubbery, won’t be ordering those again. Fries were alright. Sweet tea was average good sweet tea. It was a long wait for not great food in a dirty parking lot but the waitress was very nice. It was cheap, so I guess you really get what you pay for.

First time here. My boyfriend sings praises about the hotdogs here. Should have went that way. I got the seafood combo and it was disgusting what parts were edible. Everything was dry and rubbery and underseasoned. Fish…..if that’s what that was. Hard. Been better off stopping at Food Lion and getting a box of SeaPak shrimp and saved myself the money. Not worth 14.00 at all. The waitress was very nice though and that’s why she got 5 stars. The establishment should be thankful I gave them 2 and that’s because my boyfriend enjoyed his food so there’s that. Lol.

Pulled in, waited 30 min for someone to come take our order. Waited another 45 minutes (at least) for someone to bring the food. They were out of lettuce and my burger barely had any ketchup or mayo. It was basically just beef cheese and bacon. Otherwise, the burger was pretty good. Hotdog was pretty good too. Fries weren’t good, it tastes like the oil needed to be changed. Milkshake was almost warm and was completely liquid. Prices were good but honestly with the quality of food it made since it was cheap.

Don’t know how they have such good reviews, they deserve negative stars. Went today around 130PM ordered 2 cheeseburgers, fries, hush puppies and chocolate and strawberry shakes. Took more than 30 minutes to get our crappy food and guy next to us that ordered after us got his food before us. Burger were gross, hard like a hockey puck as well the bun, hard like a hockey puck. Hush puppies were gross tasting and weird after taste like they hadn’t changed oil in weeks in the fryer. Shakes were thin, like water, it was like drinking strawberry milk & chocolate milk. Threw almost everything out except the fries. No need to return, on the outside wall of this biz it says “good food.” Nowhere near good, I think a preschooler can make a better burger!! This place sucks. Took forever for waitress to come back to get payment so I went in to pay her, guy behind counter cooking asks how it was and I gave him honest feedback and he laughed. No need to return here and anyone thinking about going here, think twice and go to PT Burgers or Cookout or any other burger place but here!!

I love an old school drive-in, but this was a disappointment. First and last time at this place. 45 minutes for burgers fries and shakes. The fries were good, but shakes were runny like milk and burger buns were hard as a rock! We should have just gone to cookout!

First timers. Ordered all the way cheeseburgers and large fry (waitress said it was a large amount enough for 2 people). Blandest hamburger I have ever had in my life. NO flavor even though it was all the way. I think they forgot the ketchup but when I added it, it made little difference. Fries “big enough for 2 people” was about 12 crinkle tasteless fries. Looked like a small side of fries. I should have said something to the waitress however we were traveling and ready to get home. Cheap priced food but it was more or less fit for a prison or nursing home. Waitress was cute with her Ms. Santa Clause outfit on but told us “all condiments will be in the bag” (no e in bag. Had to ask for ketchup. Also told us an order of large fries large enough for 2 people. Not. We frequent the area often but won’t be back. Don’t even know how they are still in business but maybe other items on the menu have flavor. DONT ORDER FRIES AND HAMBURGERS

My family loves Merritt’s. I am sent there every day. All the ladies there are quick and efficient and they all have wonderful attitudes. If it’s been a rough day, they can will always listen and you will leave with a smile. I would love to be able to just go and hand out, like Cheer’s! ☺️

I personally loved going here to eat i got the BBQ plate and I have to say it was amazing fat hushpuppies, good coleslaw and fries, the BBQ was good but it was a little sweet for my liking but still good as heck. The service was a little slow but nothing terrible and the atmosphere was great just a simple old drive in and eat experience with trays that hang off the windows 8.7 out of 10

This is an awesome drive in restaurant. It has been in business since 1958. The burgers and hot dogs are reasonably priced and really great. The hot dogs come in top slice buns. The hot dogs taste and look like bright-leaf (red dog). The slaw and the chili are both excellent. The service is great and the atmosphere being a drive in is awesome. This is one of my favorite places to eat. Its not fancy or some expensive gourmet burger but it is excellent for what it is.
