Stopped by Problem Child after a DC Defenders game at Audi Field because I had not seen it before, and the name spoke to me. 😉
Very casual place. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. They request you order from the bar, so just be prepared for that, especially if there are also a lot of people seated at the bar. The menus are standard pub fare but are also diverse enough to satisfy most. They also feature a brunch menu on the weekends 11am-4pm. We ordered buffalo wings and two of their smash burgers along with a beer each. Everything was really good. I do wish my cell service had been better inside, so I could have checked out recommendations from other diners, but it didn’t work out and I could not find a wifi option written anywhere. Oh, well. Other fun facts: they have three gender neutral bathrooms, which was great, no line, no waiting. They also add a 20% tip automatically into your bill, which they say goes directly to their employees, and they told us that when they rang up our bill, so we were aware. Overall, we had a good time and would come back. Thanks!

I’ve been a local resident in Navy yard for over 3 years now. I was here when it was Dukes Grocery first and would often go in from time to time. The rebrand into Problem Child was the greatest decision to happen. Everything works – the staff, the event nights, the drinks, the food it all works in perfect cohesion. I’ve been a regular since it’s opened and it’s become second home, a testament to Justin and his staff. Lots of navy yard locals can and do relate. They’re such a great brand and do a phenomenal job in marketing themselves, so one thing I’d like is bar merch. Shirts, hats, coozies, stickers, vests the whole nine. I and navy yard want it all. I love talking about the place, and merchandise provides a great conversation starter on the topic. Hopefully we’ll have some merch soon!

Alissa, Isaac, and Milk are great bartenders! The ribs, burgers, and tenders are great. Most affordable bar in Navy Yard.

The only thing good about this night was Thomas at the door….I’ve already given my review of how I came across the street from my house just to check out the karaoke, and there’s a lot of biases and I asked the bartender to watch my stuff and white lady’s over there spilling on her drink on my fur coat and the black guy with her wants to take the charge. And then the karaoke guy I tipped him $10 he said you could sing anytime. When I go back to sing he says no more singing tonight okay. Then I turn around and everybody else is singing.
AWFUL EXPERIENCE AND NOW I GOT TO LOOK OUT MY WINDOW AND REMIND MYSELF OF THE WORST BIRTHDAY. I MEAN I LOVE ALL PEOPLE BUT ALL PEOPLE DON’T LOVE BLACK SKIN AND I WALKED IN THAT DOOR. SO GO AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU ARE INDIGENOUS A FREE BLACK AMERICAN.

Ok, so I WANT to love this bar. Good drinks, reasonable prices and dog friendly! The thing is, I really want it to have more of a neighborhood bar feel. Especially after I learned it was a recently affiliated Bills bar! (GO Bills)! But the Bills flag is tucked away in a corner near the kitchen so not many people know this. Recommendation to management: 1.) put a Bills flag out front to bring more fans in. 2.) deck the bar out in more Bills swag 3.) Add a few more drafts to the menu.
Will be back on a Sunday for a Bills game!

Yesterday, I came into Problem Child with a group of friends to enjoy football Sunday. I’ve visited PC a few times during the summer on weekdays and always had a great experience. However, the vibe at the bar yesterday was completely off. I’ve never been blatantly ignored there until now.
After repeatedly trying to wave down either bartender, I finally got up to approach the thinner bartender directly, and her attitude was terrible. It genuinely felt like they assumed I would be difficult simply because I’m a POC, which is absolutely not the case. I later noticed someone else left a review describing a similar experience yesterday, which unfortunately confirms what I felt in the moment…that those women were stereotyping.
I frequent plenty of bars downtown and have never experienced anything like this, especially not in Navy Yard. These two women made me feel so uncomfortable that I refused to spend any more money that night (on top of already paying $30 for a cocktail and tenders, without receiving a receipt).
They truly need better training on how to treat all customers, because the experience was disappointing and unnecessary. I’ll still return to PC because the food and usual atmosphere are great, but I’ll definitely avoid coming in when those two women are working.

I’ve been going to problem child since they opened, mostly to watch football on Thursdays and Sundays. It is a great neighborhood spot with great food (especially the cheese curds) and reasonably priced drinks. Sarah, Elle and the rest of the bartending staff always make me feel welcome and take great care of my friends and I. So happy problem child came into the area!

It’s a dive bar. Would you check out the stranger things pop up. Service was interesting. Warm bartender was very standoffish and rude. The other guy was great and phenomenal made good recommendations. The food was okay for bar food. I felt like it was a little too salty.

Made a reservation through Resy to watch the F1 race with friends only to learn that they weren’t accepting reservations when we arrived. This was surprising since I received a text prompting me to confirm the reservation too. Seems like new management pivoted this spot from a unique location to watch any big event with good food and drinks to just another bar

Wow. Wasn’t expecting this to be awesome but it surely was. Hubby liked the draft beers. I liked the espresso martinis. We shared the nachos with chicken. Casual, fun, simple. My new Navy Yard go to spot.
