I rarely leave negative reviews, but today’s experience at China Wok in Frisco was honestly one of the most disappointing customer service encounters I’ve had in a long time.

When I walked in, I was not acknowledged at all. I stood at the counter waiting while the cashier avoided eye contact until I greeted her first. Only then did she respond, and even that felt reluctant. A few minutes later, I watched her warmly thank another customer, smiling and handing them a fortune cookie. After my order, I asked if I could also have one and was told in a very dismissive tone, “It’s in the bag.”

It wasn’t.

In fact, for a $65 order, the bag contained no fortune cookie, no utensils, no napkins, and no condiments. I wasn’t upset about the cookie itself — it was the clear difference in treatment and the attitude that came with it. I left feeling unwelcome and honestly hurt by how cold and dismissive the interaction was.

Food service is about more than handing over a bag. Basic courtesy matters. Customers shouldn’t feel ignored or like an inconvenience for spending their money.

If you’re in the Frisco area, consider going somewhere that values your business and treats you with simple respect. Today I paid for a meal, but what I really walked away with was disappointment.

My wife and I have tried multiple Chinese restaurants in the area. So we thought we would give China Wok a try. When we started to eat the chicken fried rice, we questioned if it was chicken or some other meat. My wife decided not to even eat it. It’s likely some highly processed pieces of chicken and when I took it out for leftovers today, I decided I wasn’t gonna eat it either. Going deeper and cutting into some of the other pieces of chicken in the orange chicken dish the quality of the chicken is not very good so I ended up and just threw it all out. I won’t be going back again.

The food is overpriced and laughably low quality. I ordered teriyaki chicken and fried rice. The chicken was very soft and soggy. Clearly had been sitting for a long time already. The food was so awful I couldn’t even eat it. Complete waste of money. There was only one other customer inside. I would have happily waited for fresh food. Also, the “fried rice” was not even fried rice at all. It was white rice with sauce added. I will recommend against this place to every single person I know.

UPDATE: (1/31/24) I visited the place again with my husband and we were both very happy with the food and service. I’ve added two more pictures of the food we ordered.

I received a flyer from this place and decided to try it out. I ordered from the lunch special and I must say I was extremely pleased! I wasn’t expecting so much for only $8.75! Wow! Not only that, the food was delicious. I chose a hot & sour soup with my lunch special instead of a soda. The soup was really good! I’ll definitely be going again.

When I think of a small hole in the wall Chinese place, this is what I want. Barely enough room to have dine-in tables, the staff barely speaks English, low price while not compromising food quality or quantity. This is the experience I’m looking for.
Aside from that….I can not get over the cook snorting up loogies, sneezing, coughing it the fact that one of them went outside to smoke, then returned to cook without washing his hands. The food itself was delicious and hot. I wouldn’t say it’s fresh as there’s literally a pile of egg rolls and chicken that has been pre-fried next to the register where the customer can see. I would return

Great service, but the spicy orange chicken was NASTY, I really wanted to like it, but it tasted completely rotten. The rice was yummy, but that was about it. I am very disappointed in how the food tasted. The atmosphere was cute in a cheap chinese restaurant kinda way. Had 3 table but that was it.

Googled “chinese food near me” and found this place for the first time today. The value is amazing with a ton of food for less than $8. The won ton soup is very flavorful- the best I have had. The fried chicken is crispy, flavorful and huge! Egg roll is equally The Kung Pao chicken is breaded- I will ask for it to not be next time…the service is outstanding
