My friend tried the mutton chop and I had the pan seared artic char. My friend enjoyed his mutton chop and the artic char was good as well. The vegetables that came with the fish were somewhat bland and bitter. The shishito peppers appetizer were well seasoned and fresh.

Best part: the desserts! They have a fantastic key lime pie and a great hot fudge sundae. The hot fudge sundae is a classic sundae with a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate ice cream, fresh whip, hot fudge at the base, and a wafer on top. It’s the best hot fudge sundae I’ve had (ever, I think).

Seating is difficult to get so reservations are highly recommended. Bar seating is first come, first served, and can easily be a wait of 1+ hours during peak times.

I’ve visited many midtown steakhouses for business, but this lunch at Keens with my children during their mid-winter break was truly extraordinary. From the impeccable service and the legendary mutton chop to the refreshing, house-made ginger ale, every detail was perfect.
What made this afternoon truly unforgettable, however, happened after our meal. As we were at the coat check, a gentleman manager noticed my children’s curiosity about the restaurant’s history. I had actually told them not to wander around to avoid disturbing others, but he kindly insisted on giving them a personal tour of the second floor.
This turned out to be a very exciting and memorable experience for my children. He took the time to show us the Lincoln Room, explaining the artifacts in detail, including the rare casket flag that draped President Lincoln. He even opened the Roosevelt Room for us, allowing the children to take photos and truly feel the history of the space.
My daughter, who has recently been immersed in books about Abraham Lincoln, was absolutely spellbound. Seeing the real-life items from her stories come to life was the highlight of her trip. On our walk home, she was so excited, connecting everything she saw to the chapters she had read.
As my assignment in Manhattan ends this year and we prepare to return to our home country, we plan to visit Keens as often as we can before we leave. I am certain that someday when my children grow up and return to New York, Keens will be the very first restaurant they seek out.

Keen’s is such a classic New York steakhouse. The place is huge with tons of different rooms across multiple floors, so it feels historic but not stuffy. The decor is incredible, walls covered in old prints and memorabilia, you could honestly just wander around and look at everything. Staff were great all around, professional, friendly, and very on top of things.

Only real downside is the vibe at night could be better. There’s no music at all (and if there was it wasn’t hearable) and the lighting is a bit too bright for an evening steakhouse, it takes away slightly from the cozy, old school atmosphere you’d expect. That said, the history, space, and service totally make up for it. Definitely worth going at least once, especially if you like classic NYC spots.

This review is from my first time here for dinner – I booked a table on a Monday night with a colleague, place was super busy even for a Monday. We stopped at the bar first for a drink before dinner. You can read all about the decor which was very cool, and I loved the cozy feel of the place. At the bar, 2 bartenders were making up drinks, clearly super busy – and yet when it was time to take your order, their service made you feel like you were the only patron in the room. I cannot speak of the bar highly enough! Our bartender made me one of the best vodka martinis I’ve ever had in NYC, and my colleague ordered a whiskey sour which clearly was made with super fresh fruit. We came quite early and the staff was kind enough to get us seated about 20 mins before our reservation time. I ordered the iceberg salad which was nice and cold. For the main I had the mutton and sides of creamed spinach and french fries. The mutton came with mint jelly was especially delicious. All our choices – main and side were fantastic. Service was top-notch, all food came out well under 20 minutes of ordering. 10/10 experience for me. I ordered the mutton medium and it was cooked to perfection. On top of all that, portions of everything are extremely generous even for steakhouse prices- you’re paying NYC prices, but if “shrinkflation” is rampant, Keen’s clearly did not get the memo! My only suggestion is you need to absolutely book a reservation because the place was packed on a weekday, so I can’t imagine what Thursday or weekends are like! And it would be nice if the bar area had more seating room. Other than those extremely minor points, this is an incredible slice of old-school NYC with an above-and-beyond bar experience, excellent meals, and impeccable service. Keen’s completely lived up to its reputation for me.

Warm, relaxing atmosphere. This is our 2nd time here, we made a very spontaneous trip to NYC (2 days before the flight lol) and did not get to sit infront of the tiger picture as we did last time in the Lamb’s Room, but we still had an exquisite experience!

We will definitely be back & will make sure to book reservations way ahead of time, to ensure we can sit where we’d like and eat dinner at an earlier time (8;30 was the only reservation slot open) we left with our bellies super full & happy! Service was great. Restaurant/ restrooms were clean & food was so delicious.

Keens. A must visit while in NYC. A classic steakhouse that will give you a cut of steak that is bigger than you!
An absolute jewel. Everywhere you look you see something vintage and unique.
Giant flake salt on top of the steaks absolutely delicious.
We were here as guests with a company party They sent around large cocktail shrimp and lamb lollipops as the appetizers
They had a set menu for our group— I ordered the filet and green beans with dessert being chocolate mousse

Classic NYC steakhouse by The Garden, went before a Ranger game. Checked day of and they were able to accommodate us near the bar, which was perfect. Good cocktails to start and a surprisingly curated beer selection (not big but everything excellent). Standout was the bone in prime rib, available even on Monday, which was about 30 oz. Beautiful cut, perfectly cooked, highly recommended. Porterhouse was big and couldn’t be better and filet was spot on. Excellent whisky list as well

Restraunt looks great inside feels high class, kind and knowledgeable wait staff.
I tried the ceaser salad and NY strip with bernaise. Salad was okay and steak pretty good but not as good as I was expecting. The bernaise was excellent though best I have ever tried. Overall food and experince was good and matches the price.

Keen’s lived up to the hype. The building is this old-fashioned New York City steakhouse that never lost its charm. It was cool that we were sat in the Roosevelt room, where the legend has it that he hunted the moose that’s on the wall. My wife’s fillet was cooked perfectly, and my mutton chop was absolutely divine. Our server Jacob was amazing. He is such a great server and made our experience even more special.

Me and my fiance have been coming to keens to celebrate my birthday, and other milestones for the last 4 years, and every time it delivers. Service is always outstanding, they’re attentive but not overbearing, we’ve eaten in pretty much every room and they are all wonderful. The Bar also serves its own menu as well as the main menu. Prime Rib Hash is a must if you’re eating at the Bar. The Prime Rib itself is a generous portion and always spot on, but their best cut will always be the goat. Can’t wait till our next dinner here.
