Sister’s day in Cody & Powell. We were coming back from Cody, had grocery shopping to do & decided to stop for lunch.
Sis recommended this restaurant & it was all that she said it was.
Decorations & ambiance were Mexican all the way. Service was impeccable & wait staff was very knowledgeable & friendly.
Food was served quickly & hot enough to burn the roof of your mouth. Not to mention there was enough to feed a hungry lumberjack. LOL.
We intend to be back & this place gets up!!

This is the real deal for Mexican food. The service was fast and friendly. Eventhough this was our first time at El Tapatio we were treated like valued regular guests.
The beef chimichanga was great. Really good flavor smothered in real green chili (not the green enchilada sauce, but real green chili). The rice and beans were really good with a homemade taste. The chili relleno was by far the best that I’ve had in Wyoming. The beef enchilada in red sauce was ok. The beef and bean burrito smothered in green chili was good.
Portion size versus price was a good value. I felt like I got my money’s worth. Except for the guacamole. At $6.50 for an order of guacamole I truly expected more. What we received was a typical size serving bowl that is common among Mexican restaurants for guacamole orders. The bowl we received was half filled with shredded lettuce with a plop of guacamole on top. I estimate about 1/2 cup of guacamole, which to me, is not a good value for the price.
Our overall experience was great and we would rate them a 4.5 if we could. We are looking forward to enjoying El Tapatio again.

Taco salad was bland and soggy lettuce was old and slimy fajitas was bland comes with 2 tortillas and you have to buy extras?? No salt or pepper on table no hot sauce either out of queso

This place is my jam! The staff are incredibly nice, and the food is always fantastic. Never would have thought that Powell, WY would have one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve even eaten at but here we are! It’s always a treat and a great place to get a fantastic lunch.
