Kami Ramen | Anchorage AK – Facebook

Kami Ramen is SUCH a breath of fresh air. The combination of crunchy, salty, deep fried calamari and welcoming, heart-warming, comforting miso ramen

If they are serving half boiled marinated eggs for your ramen, you know they are on the right track for authentic Japanese ramen.

They have several different types of noodles to fit your preferences. From rich broth to spicy broth, you will be able to find a ramen that comforts your pallets.
Not into broth for some reason? They also have some options for rice dishes, such as Katsu combo or Don (meaning topped rice).
Appetizers are not too heavy and full of deliciousness.

Only downside I can think of this restaurant is the limited seatings/parking spaces and somewhat unclear instructions on waiting list.
Because there is no host, you are kind of on your own to find the clipboard for waitlist and write your name down.

Some may say ordering through kiosk is complicated, but instructions on kiosk is very straight forward and you can even see all kinds of modification/add-on options for your meal on one screen.

I am visiting from Texas and had the Veggie ramen; my friend had the spicy miso ramen. The veggie ramen was very flavorful (I added some spice to it). Tofu was great. The spicy miso ramen was not very spicy didn’t have as much toppings or meat in it.
I also got the yogurt green tea with the brown sugar boba. The boba is not like the regular black and circular boba and tasted different but just ok.
About $17 per ramen and the drink was almost $7.

Interesting. Unfortunate.

First time here. Small spot, limited parking, long wait, limited seating.

On entry you have to squeeze in, and sign up on a paper waiting list.

Once you get a table, you then have to get up and digitally order your food selection from a computer menu (which may have a line) as well as pay/tip in advance, then you take a number back with you to identify your table for delivery.

Want another drink? Additional appetizer? Get back up and go back over to order another individual item from the computer, and then pay again.

The entrée I ordered was not in stock so I was asked to select something else. I had ordered the japanese curry, thinking it may possibly be the only unbreaded chicken option on the menu (since I was with a group that selected our eating spot, and I’m on a health kick).

When the waitress came over to inform me my oder wasn’t available, she offered black or traditional curry instead. I tried to verify that these options were both unbreaded chicken as well. But she seemed confused, and then confirmed that they were served with”plain” chicken. So I ordered the black.

Yep. Breaded. Laid out on top of a dark sauce, not cooked into it. When it was served I commented that the meat was in fact breaded, even though she had told me that it wouldn’t be. She said that all of the Katsu is breaded…
I told her I wasn’t trying to order chicken Katsu curry, but a traditional curry (like I THOUGHT the Japanese curry was) and she said that all of the chicken they serve is always breaded..

Ah. Ok. Good to know. (Not what you said a minute ago.) I’m honestly still not sure if that is even true.

She asked if I wanted her to remove the chicken from the plate (so that I would have a plate of empty sauce and steamed rice on the side?), but I declined and decided to just go ahead and have a reluctant cheat day on calories, instead of a plate empty of content.. (Should have just ordered the ramen.)

Gotta say, the black curry sauce was actually very tasty. Not upset about that.

The only other thing I ordered was the sweet and spicy edamame, and it was legitimately served cold. Not like, no longer hot. But actually chilled. Like it came from a refrigerator? I’ve never had that.

The soybeans were crunchy, and uncooked. I didn’t complain.. (by this point I was feeling like a picky problem customer) so I just didnt eat them.

It honestly takes quite a lot to get me bothered, and this place was striking out.

As delicious as that black curry sauce was.. I don’t think I’ll be back to this particular ramen spot. There are better options close by, with a more knowledgeable staff, and diverse menu options.

Love Kami Ramen! They have changed the ordering process and it was a little confusing. Once I figured it out, it was great. We could have used a water refill and the servers just delivered our food and didn’t check in to refill water or if we needed anything after.

This is the best food I’ve put in my mouth in a long time it’s so bomb! They eggs are cooked perfectly and the broth is savory and delicious! Highly recommend! I’ve been there like 5 times already this past week for lunch as it’s quick convenient and delish! I love the kiosk to order then just sit right up at the bar. Workers are friendly too!

I love Kami Ramen. This is the go to restaurant in Anchorage for my wife and I. We always get the spicy tonkotsu and masago mayo fries. Never had a bad meal here. I’ve been to Japan and I’ll say this is definitely the most authentic ramen in town. Only down side is there is limited parking and seating so get there early.

Takuyaki!!!! Yall know how much i love a good takuyaki. This takuyaki is awesome and ill ve coming back to it. I tried the vegtable ramen, it was good with hand breaded tofu but the broth needs a lil deeper flavor. The mayo fries which seemed to have cheese and a form of maybe some homemmade thousand island, idk if it was mayo? But they were super well fried and the sauce made them slap. Um the downside is the door in the picturr REAKS of cigrette. Its definetly this ancient building though. I think they need to upgrade there spot already haha. Not really there fault, this builing is OlD like i remember when i was like 5 and it was luigis lmao

Kami Ramen is a dining experience. From the minute you get there. Sign up, and be prepared to wait, elbow to elbow with others willing to wait! Usually 5-10 minutes will find you seated. Try the Pork Belly appetizer! I like the spicy noodles. My girlfriend likes the traditional.

Make your meal an experience and enjoy!

Best ramen spot in Anchorage – I am new in town and thought Whiskey & Ramen was good……. this place is better by far! Military folk all love coming here too, got told to come here by several people. The tonkatsu ramen is very flavorful, I got fried pork belly as an appetizer but put it in my ramen which was even better.. and the Lychee Calpico drink with Brown Sugar Boba was awesome. If my family visits me here in Alaska, I’ll take them here to eat for sure.
