I really want to be kind to this little spot. It’s a very cute little building with a culinary school and restaurant. My sister and I came for lunch and she ordered the Cali wrap and said she enjoyed it. I was interested in fish, and I saw a few of the sandwich options could be made with blue catfish cakes. I considered the banh mi but decided against it because this place is certainly not Vietnamese, and I wasn’t sure about their take on the classic sandwich. I asked the cashier about the catfish cakes and she recommended them, but suggested the banh mi instead of the panini that I had been thinking. Against my better judgement, I ordered the banh mi on her recommendation.

The bread was thick and cold and soft–tasty, but very wrong for a banh mi. Each of the elements of the sandwich seemed to have been made with care, but when put together they did not work. It lacked the taste, texture, and temperature of a good banh mi. The homemade chips were also oversalted and over cooked–very crispy though! Again, I think this has the makings to be a really solid spot, but I’d probably skip the banh mi and go with something more traditionally American.

The workers were friendly and the atmosphere is very cute. The food is also relatively inexpensive.

We stopped here for take-away lunch on our way to the eastern shore. It was great food (wrap and salad, cake and cookie) and very nicely packed. The service was exactly as hoped – efficient and pleasant. We hope to find our way back again!

We’ve been very familiar with the great things happening with the Shore Gourmet program over the years, but had not visited for a meal. After taking the opportunity to enjoy a “girl’s day” lunch on a beautiful fall afternoon, we now have a favorite spot in Denton!! The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing! We’re already telling our friends and family about the experience, and planning for a return visit!!

Incredible food!!! As the name implies, this is amazing gourmet food to go. They have picnic tables with umbrellas set up around the building. It’s situated in a nice neighborhood with plenty of shade.

Back to the food… I went with one of specials, grilled chicken on flat bread, fresh arugula pesto and goat cheese. Whoa!! The taste and smell of this offering was awesome.

Desserts. They have a great selection of fresh baked cakes. I settled on a slice of German chocolate cake as well as a slice of classic Smith Island cake (yellow cake with chocolate icing).

It’s hard to say what was the best item since it was all soooo good. Loved it all. Again, the food is not your typical deli offerings, at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!!!@delmarvalicious.

I order lunch from here often! Food is great and the prices are fair. I also love seeing what different Smith Island cake flavor they have each week!

I happened to be in Denton and searched for restaurants. Shore Gourmet looked interesting. It’s in the old High School building, along with a cooking school. I had the caprese panini, with portobello mushrooms. Absolutely perfect! Tomatoes were fresh and sweet. The cheese was slices of a mozzarella ball. Bread was great. The whole thing was tasty and juicy.

Absolutely delicious and one of the best hot sandwiches ( ham and pineapple) I’ve ever had! Pesto pasta salad was different from your usual pasta salad but good. High quality food and I’ll definitely be back!

I have passed by many times and finally one day decided to go inside. I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a neat little cafe. The food was delicious! I got a grilled cheese panini and tomato soup. Top quality.

Almost missed it, located in the old Caroline High School building. But the vibe was really friendly, and the food was great. I had a really good Southwest salad and a Shore Gourmet root beer, the sweetie had a Franklin Bacon and cheese hot sandwich, and we split a helping of fresh watermelon. So good, and such a nice find!
