A group of friends realized the American dream that many immigrants had — they opened their own business after many years of hard work. From humble beginnings they grew their business into the most popular Greek restaurant in the United States. Since 1971, the same owners continue with the founding principles of great food, great service, and value. From Greece they select and ship to their restaurants the highest quality extra virgin olive oil, superior wines the best cheeses, herbs, and seafood.

Excellent experience at Greek Islands. The server Jacqueline was terrific, had great skill in fileting the redfish I ordered, every table around me had the flaming cheese. The grilled octopus was very good as an appetizer it reminded me of memorable food in Athens and in the Azores. Had a great time highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Greek food.

Opa.

I tried this spot upon recommendation of friends.

The provided curbside valet, which is great considering the area parking. This was a plus.

The interior was clean and had an interesting display when checking in with Host. The atmosphere was a little too busy and loud for my taste but, works for the overall experience.

The food selection was wonderful. The flavors were very specific to the dish being so different. Which is not always the case. Very delicious.

The service was professional and efficient. Too busy for that small talk or joking. Which me and my party were chatty.

The desserts were very tasty as well.

I will be back for more.

Opa! We had a table of 10 for a late holiday celebration… and had a wonderful time.
We chose the Family Style option and it was a feast. Great choices for appetizers, entrees and desserts. Even Greek coffee! Plus we had leftovers for our poor college-age kids to take home.
Great experience. The bill was $495 (including 3 bottles of vino).

Generally good experience. The grilled octopus is a bit overchared and the bitterness overrun it’s flavor. Chicken lemon soup is awesome. Fish is great. The lamb rack could be a bit more flavor, but still okay. Coffee and desert are highly recommended.

I love the warm and welcoming interior here — it immediately makes you feel at home. The service is just as inviting, with staff who are attentive, friendly, and make sure everything runs smoothly. Our server was excellent and really on top of his game, which made the experience even better. The food came out quickly and, as always, was absolutely fantastic.

The menu is extensive yet stays true to its Greek roots, offering a wide range of authentic, flavorful dishes. One of the best parts is their option for combo plates, which is always a great deal, especially when bringing friends along. It allows everyone to try a little bit of everything and share in the experience. Overall, this place consistently delivers on both food and service, making it a must-visit.

Excellent service!! Niko and Mac kept our drink and bread refills flowing – amazing attention to detail. Loved the vibe of this family owned Greek restaurant – plenty of seating, a huge variety of menu options with very generous portions. Loved the gyro, Greek salad with chicken, chicken kabobs, chicken breast and pork riblets. Forgot to request dressing on side of salad but honestly, it was a delicious dressing that didn’t taste super oily like a lot of other ones – we all loved it.

Didn’t love the hummus/fish/feta dip platter-it looks pretty but the taste didn’t hit right. Will try a different appetizer next time.

Highly recommend this hidden gem just south of the loop – a very fun and delicious meal with excellent family atmosphere vibes.

I went to Greek Islands on a night out in Chicago’s Greektown and it gave me that full-on classic taverna energy you imagine when someone says “Greek dinner.” The place has been around since the early ’70s and you can feel that history in the vibe — big dining rooms, lively chatter, and that warm, welcoming buzz that makes you want to settle in for a long meal.

The food hits the Greek comfort-food staples just right — think savory lamb orzo, tender moussaka, dolmades, fresh grilled seafood, and plenty of pita to go with creamy tzatziki. I tried a few things and each dish had that hearty, satisfying quality you want from Mediterranean cooking, with bold flavors and generous portions that make it feel like a feast rather than just dinner.

Atmosphere-wise, it’s energetic and a little bustling — you’ll hear plenty of “Opa!” and laughter bouncing around — so it’s perfect with friends or family, especially before a show or game nearby. Service was friendly and efficient, and the valet parking is a nice convenience in the busy neighborhood.

It’s not a quiet, upscale dinner spot — it leans into the fun, classic Greek-restaurant experience — but that’s part of its charm. If you’re after honest, flavorful Greek food and a lively dinner scene in Greektown, this is one that’s still worth a visit.

Definitely will go back…. No question! I thought my husband’s lamb and my fish were a little dry (my have just been the day), but everything else, especially the appetizers, was incredible. Service was top notch and gracious. Also, they will absolutely work with reasonable requests. Charming atmosphere.

Very authentic Greek spot, and highly recommend. Many of the servers have been working here a long time, and are very attentive. The food is always great, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in Greece. The wine list is great, and very reasonably priced! Some of our favorites: taramarsalat, octopus, Greek olives, and the kids LOVE the meatballs.
