Had been wanting to try this place for a while. Ordered delivery tonight. Prosciutto sandwich with peppers, fig jam, arugula, and mozzarella. Ingredients seemed fresh on the sandwich but the bread was stale. Normally wouldn’t be an issue since it’s a deli and I expect that it hopefully was in the morning. Problem I have is that for $17-18, this is a really sad portion.

Cangiano’s is a delightful gem of a find for all things Italian in Jersey City. We found this Deli to be an excellent source for Italian groceries and cooked meals, including sandwiches and pastas. There is an enormous selection of options, and the staff is super nice and friendly. We had the Penne Pasta in Vodka Sauce as well as a Grilled Chicken sandwich and both were excellent. We are excited to come back for more!

Cangiano’s is an awesome Marketplace. Their food quality is off the charts. Their breakfast is great but their sandwiches are on another level. Easily one of the best Italian spots in JC.

Tony Soprano-approved ✅ Cangiano’s is a bustling, cozy deli that brings the spirit of New Jersey’s authentic Italian cuisine to life. This isn’t just a sandwich shop—it’s a shrine to premium meats, perfectly crafted Italian sandwiches, and specialty groceries + baked goods.
Woke up this morning and got myself the #17. Filled with gabagool, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and sweet fig jam, the sandwich is packed into soft, fluffy bread and is generously sized to feed two people. At $16 it is extremely reasonable given the portions, quality of ingredients, and joy of the atmosphere. I would definitely try it again with red peppers or add eggplant!
One small tip: there’s no seating area, so plan to grab your goodies to go. That said, I’ll definitely be back to sample their seasonal soups and those cannolis. ♀️

Just when I thought I had found my favorite Italian deli in JC…. Cangiano’s came and blew everyone else out of the water.
The variety here is really outstanding – we got a lot of food and still so many things I want to try. We got the #5 and #17 subs – #5 was a classic Italian sub and #17 was a nice twist with the spicy fig jam (I dream of this sandwich). Don’t forget the pesto or tomato potato chips. Or both. Actually get both.
We also got the Pasta salad Mac n cheese – 10/10
No notes.
Don’t skip dessert. One of my fave banana puddings and the cannolis were phenomenal- fresh zested lemon??? Pistachio???? Heavenly.

This type of deli proves you dont have to go far in Jersey to get a great sandwhich. They have sandwhiches and hot meals. Everything looked amazing. I had the number 19 (see picture) and it was delicious.

The most delicious sandwich I have ever had, and that’s coming from a person who generally despises the concept of a sandwich. Growing up, sandwich wasn’t considered a proper meal and was only supposed to be eaten in a bind: e.g. a hiking trip or a long train ride. Sandwiches that I have encountered even from reputable sandwich stores and mom and pop joints are usually too bland and too dry. Cangiano’s mozzarella sandwich was as mouth-watering, moist and flavorful as can be. Their selection of sheep and goat cheeses is pretty impressive. Keep it up, Cangiano!

Cangiano’s was our Christmas miracle this year. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, shrimp scampi, meatballs, meat lasagna and a tiramisu. Every dish was as if my mother-in-law was in the kitchen, rest her soul. Excellent quality, spot on flavor and generous portions with enough to both feed an army and send people home with extras. All the stars in the heavens ‘cuz Cangiano’s wrapped our holiday table in the tastiest of bows!!!

I’ve gotten sandwiches from here before and they were AMAZING!!!! However, last night I got a tray of eggplant cutlets and chicken cutlets and both are terrible – I’m so upset. Chicken is dried out and eggplant tastes like the fridge. $200 in the garbage
