Finally really good street-style Mexican tacos
The tacos were flavorful and authentic, and the sauces were super good, definitely the highlight. The place is small but cozy, with vivid colors that truly capture a fun, authentic Mexican atmosphere. The vibe is very friendly and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual meal.
The only downside was the chips, which could be better, but everything else made up for it.
Tacos y Cantina La Potranca is absolutely worth a visit if you’re craving solid Mexican street tacos!

I’ve lived in South Florida for 13 years and I’ve made a serious effort to find authentic Mexican tacos. After trying many places over the years, Tacos y Cantina La Potranca genuinely surprised me.
For a long time people said the best tacos were in Homestead. I went many times and while some were good, none really impressed me. This place did.
I happened to be working in the Pinecrest area and decided to stop by. I ordered suadero, lengua, and tripa tacos, plus gringas with carne asada and al pastor. Everything was very well prepared, properly seasoned, and tasted like real Mexican street tacos, the kind you hope to find but rarely do in Florida.
The salsas were solid and above average compared to most taco spots around here. They could still push them a little further in flavor, but they definitely complement the tacos well. I also ordered a michelada, and it was perfectly balanced and well prepared.
As someone who has spent years looking for truly authentic tacos in this city, this place is easily among the best I’ve found so far.
My only complaint: I wish they had a location in the north part of the county. I’d be there all the time.

I had a great experience. The food was 10/10 and the micheladas are definitely some of the best. But what really made the difference was Santiago service, super friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back!

This place is a must try if you like authentic tacos, there’s also a variety of sauces to choose from. I ordered a chicken taco, a vampire chicken taco, a birria taco. They do not use the shredded chicken, if you’re picky like me, they serve the chicken cubed you’ll love it. Everything has very good and fresh flavor. No complaints on any. There was also no wait time. And we ordered two passion fruit margaritas that were delicious. It was just a little hot but I’m sure it’s because the place is small and the kitchen is in the corner. Besides that, I felt at home because of their choice of old school Spanish music.

We decided to try La Potranca since it’s close to our home and we didn’t want to drive all the way to Homestead. We had seen many good reviews on social media, so we went in with high expectations.
The place itself is very nice, the servers were attentive, and the drinks were good. Unfortunately, the main food did not live up to the expectations. If you are familiar with the taste of authentic tacos or traditional Mexican food, you may find the flavors lacking, as the dishes we tried did not have much seasoning or authenticity.
In our opinion, it’s still worth the drive to Homestead if you’re looking for truly authentic Mexican tacos and flavors. However, if you’re just looking for a convenient spot with a nice atmosphere and good drinks, La Potranca might still be an option to consider.

The nachos topped with carne asada was fire. So good. The tacos with brisket so delicious. Just be careful with the spicy red sauce my month was on fire. For dessert the Nutella mouse was to die for. First time eating here and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
