Since 1987, Pasteur has been serving Vietnamese staples to the Chinatown community and beyond. Owned by husband-and-wife duo, Dennis and Lily, Pasteur tells the story of their childhood growing up in Southern Vietnam through recipes passed down from Lily’s mother.
Vietnamese standards like rice noodle soups are served in a basic setting near the courthouses.

The owner and staff are all so friendly, warm and lovely. The atmosphere is gentle and warm.
Last but not least the food is fantastic. I usually get the satay beef Pho but today ended up getting a beef tomato soup that was just as amazing :). The photo doesn’t do it justice as I am already halfway through my meal… 10/10 recommend on a cold weather day as their soups are hearty and healthy, and 10/10 on a hot day as well because their vermicelli plates are perfect for a summer refresher. I’ll be back soon ~
The restaurant is very traditional, the oldest viet restaurant in NYC. the staff there speaks Vietnamese. we got seated right away during lunch time on the weekend, it was not busy at all. service is fast
i had the bún bò huế which is a central Vietnam dish with spicy, salty, and savory flavors. it comes with thick and round vermicelli noodle, loaded with flavor. Make sure to try their grill pork chop, is well marinated with lemongrass and sweetness to it.
The food is awesome. We had Oxtail Pho and a barn mi sandwich. The food was delicious
The place is a little hole in the wall with communal seating when it gets crowded
The service is very good and it looks like they’ve been there really long time
If you’re in The area, try it. It’s on the Side St., Baxter and well worth the trip.
1. Kinda a pho but those are glass noodles. The soup is the best pho soup I’ve ever had. It’s really fresh and the owner is very generous with their ingredients. You might want to skip the pork liver if you’re not a big fan of internal organs. But it’s a 5/5 to me
2. It’s a seafood crepe. They prob made it with coconut in the crepe which gives it a unique flavor in the crepe. Never had it anywhere else. 5/5 again
3. Claypot rice. 4/5. Unique flavor with a bit sweet. Very generous with all the ingredients as well.
