Pretty solid hibachi place, a little suprised they do not have noodles but I enjoyed the rice, veggies, and proteins. My lady unfortunately wasnt a huge fan of the fried rice but I thought it was pretty good. The food isnt amazing but its definitely good. The portions weren’t bad, the plating was nice, and the service was also nice. The food was prepared quickly and I even added a little extra order when I went to pick up and it was yet still done in a fast manner. Solid place, this is a good addition to the scarce food options in the lake wales area. The price was also not too bad. Hibachi is known to be a bit pricey. There are also a ton of seafood/fish options. I use those two words interchangeably.. this worried me because I am allergic but they seem to know what they’re doing back there so there was no emergency room run that evening lol.

The food is good. I’ve been here about 3 times. Is it only me ? About half way through my meal I get internally hot. I start sweating and have to take a break from eating . Other than that it’s worth the money. Portions are good and atmosphere is great.

Called and Ordered the rainbow roll wanted no yellowtale with it. Ordered spicy salmon role fried. When we got there both orders were wrong. How I called it in was on the receipt to. But will managed to mess up the order. Then they told I had to pay extra if I wanted them to redo the order for them to fry the one roll.

Have eaten here consistently for the past 10 years. See the pics. Not sure what happened but the whole dinner didn’t get served. Definitely a difference in quantity between steak and Chicken. Then the shrimp. Disappointed to say the least.

Recently spent 3 nights in the hospital suffering from Sepsis caused by food born Norovirus from the food here. My 27 yr old niece who also dined with me that evening had food poisoning for several hours the same night we ate there.

So-So. Pricey. Steak Hibachi was good, spring rolls tasted like turpentine and were nasty. First and last time eating there. Not worth the $40 we spent there.

I’ve been a loyal fan of Hibachi Express and have previously given them 5 stars for their great service, delicious food, and fair pricing. However, I was recently disappointed after visiting post-hurricane and noticing what looked like price increases across much of the menu.
For example, fried rice options and combo hibachi meals had gone up by $0.75 to $1 compared to their pre-hurricane prices. At first glance, it felt like price gouging during a difficult time for the community.
After comparing prices and factoring in Polk County’s 7% sales tax, I now realize that most of the new prices closely match or are even slightly below the original prices once tax is added. However, the Combo Fried Rice price jumped significantly—nearly a dollar more even with tax included—which still feels excessive and inconsistent with their explanation.
I appreciate the owner’s response explaining that the temporary pricing included tax and was meant to streamline service without taking advantage of anyone. For the most part, I believe them. But I do hope they’ll revisit the few items that saw steeper hikes and aim to be more transparent about price changes during times of crisis.
I’m still a fan of their food, especially the hibachi steak and sushi rolls, and I’ll likely return. But I believe fairness and trust go hand-in-hand with good business, especially when the community is trying to recover together.
