First time here and a pretty good experience. Selecting my dinner was a little challenging since everything is covered which is good for temp control but the guy and girl working were very nice about opening any of them to show me. I went with the double meat plate which consisted of 2 fried chicken thighs (super delish) and 1 fried pork chop which was good but I wouldn’t order it again tbh. Mashed potatoes and gravy were VERY good, like momma made them! Collards also a pleasant surprise. The yams looked so good … wish they did a 1 meat and 3 or 4 veggie plate. Maybe they do… the cornbread was alright I think maybe the dinner roll would have been a better choice. Banana pudding was on point. Coulda been slightly sweeter but overall very tasty! Their to-go drinks are pricey at nearly $4 and I think it’s not even 20oz. I’ll be back again tho! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay first of all… Nana Morrison’s did NOT come to play.
We went as a family and every single one of us left obsessed. Like quiet-at-the-table-because-everyone-is-eating obsessed.
I ordered the smothered pork chop with mac and cheese, curry chicken over rice, and a red Kool-Aid… and let me tell you, that pork chop was fall-apart tender and smothered in the kind of gravy that makes you want to ask for extra bread just to soak it up. The mac and cheese was creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. Not dry. Not bland. Exactly how mac should be.
The curry chicken over rice was packed with flavor. You could taste the love in it. And the red Kool-Aid? Ice cold, sweet, nostalgic perfection.
Everything tasted homemade, comforting, and made with real soul. The portions were generous, the food came out hot, and the entire experience felt like Sunday dinner at grandma’s house.
If you’re in Charlotte and craving real soul food, Nana Morrison’s is absolutely worth it. My whole family was in love and we’ll definitely be back.

Blew my socks off! Make and cheese is creamy and not dry. Candied yams are delicious. Fried chicken crispy and juicy. Smothered meatballs are unbelievable. Collards are fabulous. Go spend the money! You will not be disappointed.

I was excited about visiting the restaurant; I was glad to learn they have a location even closer to my area. The facility is clean, spacious, and resembles a cafeteria. The staff’s demeanor was ok. I was surprised to learn that, like a cafeteria, you have to go down an assembly line. Customers cannot order to individual specifications. We ordered catfish, collards, mac and cheese, and yams, which came with a cornbread muffin. Since I am a very good cook, I can be a bit of a “Soul Food Snob.” Besides, we have a Black-owned Soul Food restaurant minutes from where we live, where they “throw down.
Nana Morrison’s Soul Food is not that good. There was no happy medium. Everything sweet was too sweet, like the tea and yams (which were soupy). The collards had too much vinegar and gave a hint of “Glory” canned collards. I prefer greens seasoned with ham, ham hocks, turkey, or pork salt, but I enjoy them without meat as well. However, you can’t saturate them with vinegar–if they’re seasoned right, a splash of vinegar/hot sauce will do. The catfish had the right texture (crispy coating, softer inside), but it was miserably bland. I could’ve doctored up a box of Jiffy and it would’ve been tastier than the muffin they served (yikes). The biggest disappointment was the baked mac and cheese. I only ate a spoonful and couldn’t stomach the rest. It was a step up from Kraft in a box with a ton of Velveeta. Anybody who uses Velveeta in their mac knows it will overwhelm the dish if you use too much of it. By the way, the bill was over $80. bucks which is not bad if the food is good, but it wasn’t.
Finally, I may give the location in Cary, NC, a try, but we will not return to the Charlotte location. They need Nana back in the kitchen because the chef is slipping.

I finally got here after months of trying to get here. I got the sweet chicken platter with Macaroni and cheese along with collard greens. The chicken was delicious, the macaroni and cheese was good and collard greens tasted like they added too much vinegar in it. The peach cobbler was just okay. The service was great and the prices were okay. Definitely worth the visit.

We came in today after we picked up family from the airport. It was so delicious! The catfish was fried hard like I like it and the sides were great too. Cornbread and cakes hit the spot. The place is very clean and organized! They even have kool aid which was nostalgic for me. I really enjoyed how friendly the staff was by talking us through the menu and being patient. They consistently checked on us throughout our visit. This spot is a hit

Absolutely delicious southern soul food. I had the two meat and two sides plate and chose meatloaf and fried chicken as my meats. I ordered the macaroni and cheese, green beans, and fried okra as my sides. The cornbread was the right sweetness, in muffin form, and was not dry at all. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The staff were friendly, and it didn’t take long at all to get through the line. Make sure to order the banana pudding – it was really good!

In Charlotte for the day, stumbled upon Nana’s because it is right next to the hotel I am staying at. The food was unreal and authentic, might be the best soul food I have eaten in my life. Ordered the large plate and got smothered pork chops and the Sunday daily special, pulled BBQ chicken. Got Mac n Cheese and curry chicken rice as the sides, and some cornbread. Everything was amazing, but the smothered pork chops and the cornbread were world class. Got the peach cobbler for dessert, and it was incredible too. The service was great, and the place was full of locals, so the atmosphere was authentic and not a tourist trap. 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting some great quality food for a good price.
