We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by both the host and the delicious smell of smoked meat! We sat at a high booth in the bar area. There were a variety of tables taken but still the restaurant was relatively quiet as it was 2:30 pm on a beautiful September afternoon. My husband frequently orders a traditional burger of some sort. He said the burger was great and big! The fries were hand-cut and apparently hard to stop eating. . I had the special. It isn’t always on the menu. It was Blackened Salmon Tacos with Lime Rice. Oh, goodness!!! I mean—-GOODNESS!! It was absolutely spectacular!! This was our first time at the restaurant. We will return.

I’m about 6 months late on this review, but this place was a pleasant surprise when I was in town for work. None of the foods were a miss! Great portions, great flavor, reasonable price for what you get. If I remember correctly there was a special on pasta that day that made the price of my brisket Mac and cheese ridiculously cheap. The brisket poutine was great, but that being said it was probably my least favorite of everything I tried and that’s saying a lot. Highly recommend the bacon wrapped poppers. My brisket mac and cheese was so good, the noodles were not overcooked or mushy like seems to be the par for most restaurants. The chicken wild rice soup is everything you’d expect out of that soup. 10/10 will eat here again next time I’m in Alex.

Stopped here while travelling home on I-35 on a late Sunday morning and boy was I glad we found this place. We were seated right away by friendly staff and the menu was full of tempting, creative, different spins on familiar favorites. The corned beef hash with sauerkraut, crispy breakfast potatoes, and 2 perfectly poached eggs was right up my taste bud alley. (I’m sure they’d hold the kraut for the less adventerous.) And, the French Toast Chicken Monte Cristo was a sensation, too. The place has a modern, but cozy, comfortable feel with some old-world German wall clocks and framed pictures. But what really made us feel welcome was the outstanding friendliness of the service staff. Don’t drive by this place – stop in!

The food is what we go for. All you can eat sunfish and the loaded mashed potatoes are perfectly seasoned. The tartar sauce and aioli are made in house and the soup of the day never upsets. We always make reservations we travel an hour to eat here.
Update 6/16
I’m going to change this from a 4 star to 5 simply because since we started visiting the service has gotten significantly better. The team work is complimentary to the kitchen’s speed and tonight we felt like royalty. We visited for my birthday and were treated to some cheesecake but I simply forgot to take a picture, tonight I made sure to get one to spoil those viewing this review. As I sit here writing this review, I can not wait to visit again.

Russell sprouts are amazing, steak (filet) cooked to perfection. After driving 11 hours it was so great to stop in and have a fabulous meal! Drinks were awesome to and just down the road from the room.

Had a relaxing day exploring this charming city.
Discovered this popular local restaurant that specializes in wood fired meats.
Our server, Jason, was incredible and friendly and a very welcoming ambassador of his city.
One of the specials was all-you-can-eat Sunfish. I’ve never heard of sunfish until today and Jason was kind enough to let me have a taste of them. The fish was light and had a very delicate taste and texture. What an amazing way to remember this State by having some of its famous local fish!
We had:
***Top Sirloin with Asparagus and Smashed Red Potatoes with Sour Cream, Bacon Bits and Cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and the potatoes was the best I’ve had in a long time. 10/10
***Choose Your Own Adventure – Woodifired Chicken and Babyback Ribs. Served with Sweet Corn, Coleslaw and Smashed Red Potatoes. The chicken was so juicy and flavourful! 10/10. The ribs were great but not as tender as I was expecting them to be. 8/10.
This place is highly recommended if you’re passing through or visiting the city.

This was well worth the money. I had the ribs, french fries, and baked beans. See the photo below. The ribs were savory with delicious seasoning. The fries were crunchy on the outside, which is how I like them. The baked beans had a sweet and spicy taste. The pickles were also seasoned well. I’m very impressed with how delicious everything was. The environment is nice, too. It is a large restaurant with moderately low lighting and well maintained tables and seats. It feels warm and welcoming. The staff were also very kind.

Absolutely wonderful: we came here for my boyfriend’s 40th birthday and it was perfect! We had the strip steak and the food was cooked to perfection with a wonderful charbroiled taste. I cannot recommend this place enough! The atmosphere is so charming and the staff are always so welcoming. This is one of our favorite spots. Yes yes yes a million times over to everything on their menu! We have not had a bad meal here yet and have been consistently coming for over two years. My favorite is their handmade chicken sandwich or the shrimp. An absolute must stop on your tour through Alexandria MN!

I was going to give this a 4 star review but when I started to really think about the experience, customer service, and quality of the food, it fully outweighs the fact that we sat down with coffee, espresso, and a bloody Mary but ended up with no spoon. I could have asked for one but I kept getting distracted by all the amenities this place comes with. A full bar with great attentive bartenders. Pull tabs of good varieties, the smell of good food and the great outdoors, the food was absolutely exquisite. We went for the Sunday Brunch special. More than satisfied will all the food we ended up with. Highly recommend this place if you’re a traveler like us or a regular in town family.

Had supper on a Saturday evening at this restaurant, and both my wife and I were very happy with our service and food. All the food on my plate was delicious, but the ribs where my favorite and my wife’s chicken parm was amazing as well.
