The ice cream here is delicious. Exotic flavors that I loved. The service was excellent, and the salchipapas and elote loco were also delicious. I’ll definitely be back.

I went once shortly after this place opened and had a great experience. The older woman who helped me was very kind, and even with a language barrier, she genuinely tried to help me choose what I wanted.
A few months later, I returned around noon and found the restaurant closed despite it being within their posted hours. I gave it another chance yesterday at 2 p.m. The restaurant was open, but there was very little available for purchase. The young woman working at the counter did not seem comfortable speaking or reading English or Spanish. Even when I pointed to items, she mostly responded with “I don’t know” or shrugged, and it felt like she was reluctant to serve me.
I was able to order a strawberry agua fresca and purchased chicharrones from the display stand. Unfortunately, the chicharrones were extremely unpleasant, beyond stale. About an hour after drinking the agua fresca, I experienced severe stomach issues and became very ill.
Because of this experience and the potential food safety concerns, I will be contacting the Henrico County Health Department. This situation could pose a serious risk to someone who is immunocompromised.

I visited around 7:40 PM on a Tuesday, was craving ice cream and figured I would support a local business rather than going to the Brusters around the corner.
I walked in with a smile on my face, but was greeted with what can only be described as a look of annoyance. No greeting whatsoever, I actually had to ask if they were open because of the way she reacted to me walking in. She said yes to that question and greeted me no further.
I ordered my ice cream and during the entire interaction got no smile or interaction whatsoever. The entire time, she showed nothing but annoyance to me being there.
I understood that there was a language barrier, but facial expressions can mean more than words sometimes.
Even at checkout, all she did was quickly say “OK” after I paid.
I was thinking maybe she was just having a bad day as we all have them, and it was towards the end of the day so maybe she was just very tired.
But as soon as I walked away from the register she was not just laughing, but cracking up with her coworker- so obviously she could’ve managed to smile at me instead of making me feel completely unwanted and causing me to regret my decision to choose this place over a chain.
The ice cream was good, but nothing nearly special enough to make me return after how truly unwelcome she made me feel.

I recently visited this establishment and tried the mangonada and the elote loco. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with both dishes. The mangonada lacked a distinct mango flavor, and I’ve had better at other Michoacana ice cream shops. The elote loco was also underwhelming and didn’t meet my expectations.
Additionally, I was disappointed by the lack of greeting upon arrival and the impersonal service.

They act like they don’t know English. The manager is very disrespectful and argumentative. They tried to over change me for ice cream, the employee gave me a price for $3.00 for one scoop however when I went to the register to pay for my ice cream the price had changed. She called the manager and the manager said it’s $5.00, I had to have Henrico police to be the mediator, I only paid price of 3.00 that I informed of. First time there and wasn’t satisfied with the service. Piece of advice put the price on the wall for items and there won’t be an opportunity for a language barrier. Be blessed
