One of my biggest pet peeves about this place is they are quick to charge you for food that they don’t have. They will charge you for burritos for example, and then tell you oh we’re out of something… But I will say they are willing to, according to them, ” heat up some more food”…. Which kind of turned me off. Also, their parking is horrendous. I sometimes literally don’t go just because there’s nowhere to park. Also, if there are three or four people in front of you, it can take a while to get your food. The flour tortillas are tasty but they are a little too thin for me but I do get them every now and then. They do have these tortilla chips that are really good for a lot of things, especially to make chilaquiles. I can definitely recommend those. They have freshly made corn tortillas. I hear are good but it’s not my thing. I personally like yellow corn tortillas. So my favorite things to get are the burritos and in particular are: Puerco en chile verde, And the egg based burritos. But I will say if you get an egg and bacon, they are a little greasy and that is consistent. I’ve gotten them about three times and they’re always a little too greasy for my taste. But they are very generous with the amount of bacon that they put in there.
I have gotten the: puerco en chile rojo con nopal, For me if you love nopales, then you will like these. I like them but I don’t like a lot of them and they put a lot of nopales. It’s almost the star of the show.
So overall, this place for me is about a 3.5 out of five stars… Mostly because of the reasons of the parking situation and because of the wait time that you can potentially wait to get your food, and lastly, probably the biggest pet peeve is the fact that they will go ahead and sell you burritos or whatever item and then moments later tell you that they don’t have it or that they right now. And part of the problem is that they are not quick to give you a refund. They try to tell you if you want something else or they’ve even given me in the past that “oh, I already charged you” line. As if they could not or did not want to give me a refund because they did not have the food items that they charged before to begin with. So yeah for that reason I give it a 3.5.

The lady that tends to be the main one that cooks is really nice and sweet. Also side note, I can definitely not recommend their chorizo that they have there. It is very very greasy and tastes just okay.

Customer service is non-existent here! Employees will literally walk right past you as if you aren’t even there. Look, I don’t expect to be treated like royalty, but I do expect to at least be greeted or acknowledged as a customer. Instead, it feels like they enjoy ignoring people and leaving them standing around looking lost. Even when they are right in front of you, it’s impossible to get a question answered. If you don’t care about service, you’ll be fine; but if you do, you won’t find it here. Trust me on that.one last thing ,the parking spots are terrible and no wheel chair accessibility for those who require it.

Stopped by here after a friend gave me one of their pork tamales to try. I ordered the combo #1 which comes with 4 tacos of any meat choice and a coke or sprite. I got 2 chicharon and 2 picadillo tacos with a coke. Bought a dozen if the pork tamales and green tamales which I’ll try for dinner. Listen, if you like authentic Mexican food, you will love this little Southside secret location. Be forewarned, their salsa is not from New York City. This is hot, spicy salsa that will make you wish you ate ice cream and had a bucket of ice to sit on. Great Mexican food at great prices.

I like to stop by here for tortillas, and especially the red salsa (Warning: the red salsa is HOT!). It’s very good salsa for making tacos at home.

I also like to stop by and get breakfast tacos when I’m nearby around that time.

Recommended.

Best corn tortillas I have found. Swing buy and get a few packs on taco night! They keep them hot, definitely eat them before they cool down. Maybe bring a cooler to keep them hot .

Each corn tortilla pack has 2 dozen tortillas.

Great chips and salsa for sale as well.

Note, I have not tried the restaurant. Just the fresh corn tortillas, chips and salsa.

The tamales here are SOOOOO good oh my god. The masa has perfect flavor , the amount of spice in the meat is so good. Now they really know how to make quality tamales. Just wish it was less expensive but the way it tastes so good makes a lot of sense.

These are not nixtamal tortillas, the tortillas they sell are made using Maseca.

The food sold by the pound is given to you in small styrofoam cups which are so flimsy, that by the time you get out the door everything collapses.

The stews (guisos) are very spicy, even for those that like spicy food. They use too much cumin, and there is no balance of flavors.

The meat is tough and also has a lot of fat and gristle. I’m not sure what cut of meat they use to make their barbacoa tacos, but it for sure is not cheek meat (cachete), as they advertise in their menu. Overall, not worth coming to this place. It’s sad to see people settle for this quality of food.

I tried Togo there this past Friday 7/20 at around 7:30 pm and they close at 8 pm.
We went inside and we were told the kitchen is closed. We still had 30 minutes but oh well.

Tried Togo today at an earlier time and they didn’t have what I wanted. So we decided Togo to another place and perhaps we can try it a third time and see how it goes.

No seating it will be only Togo.
