Yummy pizza. Fluffy thick Sicilian style crust. Fast to grab a slice

Very clean, indoor dining

I liked the first slice I got here enough to come back and other a whole pizza. Ordered a Hawaiian pizza, it’s a bit spicy even ordering no jalapenos, those aren’t red peppers and it’s not listed in the toppings online. Maybe a whole pizza was too much

Cesar salad was alright

It’s a great place to watch sports. But be forewarned, you will not be notified if they change the channel. They have a wide selection of items on their menu and are all good. They also offer lunch specials M-F. I enjoy their meatballs and an order of their garlic knots. Yummy!!
Update: you can add clams and garlic to your pizza slice!!!!! Friendly staff today.

Firstly, I’d like to acknowledge the fact that we’re still going through a pandemic and running a business must pose incredible challenges. My intention with this review is to share constructive feedback with the intention of bringing issues to your attention since I do not feel comfortable sharing them when I’m at Slices about to eat.

I had food from this place three times in total. The first was during the inauguration. Another during the weekend and today during the lunch time.

The pizza has a nice taste. The dough is fluffy and has a crunchy base. At least in my experience there are never too many options in terms of pizzas.

The main issue this particular Slices experiences is the poor service. I’m not here to bash anyone in particular however it feels like they are still operating the place like during their inauguration.

My main concerns are regarding efficiency and hygiene. From an efficiency standpoint, it feels like you’re either not asking the right questions at the right time to the customer (for example having my pizzas handed in a tray when I wanted a to go box) or having the employee with a pizza tray calling out pizza names (instead a customer name like every coffee shop does or a number like other businesses do) to get their warmed up pizzas. In situations like this, I see employees talking to each other trying to understand who was the customer. These problems have been solved by many other businesses and using a solution that works for you would make the experience a lot better.

With regards to hygiene, which is a hot topic right now, I honestly don’t understand why the trays used to heat up the pizza slices are so narrow that an employee has to touch my pizza with their thumb. Was this overlooked as a problem? If not, can’t the employee use a glove? This seems pretty basic in a time where these issues are revisited and dealt with to adapt. Yet, this has been happening (or barely happening). When waiting for my turn, when I see an employee handling a tray to put in the oven and their thumb almost touches the pizza, I force myself to look away and erase that picture from my mind. Seriously, take a look into this.

To finalize, I try to support local businesses as much as I can although I don’t eat out frequently. My experience with Slices will keep me away from visiting again however I wish you success.

Maybe I just got unlucky and dealt with too many coincidences, still, hope the feedback is helpful.

Seems like a great place to hang out with friends. Ample seating indoors (including counter seats if you’d prefer to be on your phone) and on the patio. The pizza was tasty, too.

I have been here about 5-7 times in the past 2 months with my best friend and it’s the best. Very good toppings and I love the way it is cooked. The crust is made a bit thicker than most pizza places but it is still really good. I personally love the thicker “Chicago” crust type pizza so it’s perfect for me. I love it! Totally recommend!!!

So excited to have this in our Bay Meadows community. Wait was pretty long but they took care of us for it. Pizza was really good. We ordered a full meat lovers Pizza- crust was great, I like a little more sauce but hubby was happy with sauce amount. Generous toppings (loved the pulled pork). I felt like there was some just a little lacking in overall flavor (couldn’t pinpoint is it was me missing some sauce). Don’t Care- I’m going to be a regular for sure!

The best tasting pizza I ever had!! The aroma of the sauce when I drove home was great. My father had already eaten dinner, and I gave him a slice, and then he wanted a 2nd slice. It is very tasty, like no other pizza that I ever had before. It was difficult to find at first, because I did not see their signage, but now I know where it is located in San Mateo. Great job! This is my pizza place now.

Easy to order and pick up. But the pizza was bland and just not good – all three of us concurred. We’ve definitely had better, even in the Bay area pizza desert. Maybe it’s just this franchise location, but we won’t order from here again.

Edit to respond to owner: not sure how much the staff could do to change the dough, sauce, and cheese. Sounds like that ball is in your court, bud.

Slices needs to rethink their pizza
Good service but the pizza by the slice was warmed up toast. I don’t get it. Nothing stood out in any positive way and I would have done better with a burrito.

Also, they give you a small cup for soda with only 1refill on the lunch special.

Cheese was good, crust is like dried out thick toast. So like French bread cooked too long. Sauce is blah and I left feeling like I should have went to little Cesar’s. Sorry , Slices, but you need to rework things.

Gee
Absolutely disgusting. The garlic knots smelled spoiled..literally rotten. They were solid hard, but not burnt- therefore they were likely stale, and I imagine that the butter on them spoiled, creating this disgusting, lingering smell. It even left a rotten odor on my hands.

I am so disappointed as I love this area for its eateries and atmosphere, But this was insanely unacceptable. I ordered a medium vegan pizza and did not mind that there were no official options for substitutions,( I accepted it bc i thought it was possibly gourmet.)

Unfortunately I was wrong. It is not gourmet and the flavor was completely bland. After experiencing the knots, I suspect they loaded the pizza with cheese to hide the possibly expired/old and flavorless ingredients.

Despite my pizza being covered with vegetables, it had zero flavor…. Not even the red sauce had flavor.

I don’t know whats going on, and if they hadn’t closed by the time I tasted my pizza and garlic knots at home, i’d have returned and demanded a refund, Bc rotten food is more than concerning. I’m still in shock about this quality and experience.

Legitimately rotten food. Negative stars .
