Nice little neighborhood place with solid BBQ. Had the smoked Tri Tip. The meat was smoky and not super tender but great flavor.
The BBQ sauce was completely disappointing. Couldn’t tell the difference between what the waitress identified as spicy and not spicy. No flavor just sugar. They could step up by getting a variety at the grocery store and serving that. Took what could be a decent meat and elevating it to taking a solid meat and pulling it down.
A safe place but not a great place. I’d want more if I was the owner or worked there.
Went on a Sunday and service was slow. One person working and a decent sized crowd. Waited for nenus … Waited for drinks… Waited for check… Waited…

JJ’s Smokehouse is such a great neighborhood spot. The barbecue is seriously some of the best around and the tri tip dip sandwich is my go to every time. Perfectly cooked and perfectly smoked.
Everyone there is always friendly and welcoming, and it feels like one of those places where regulars and first timers all mix together and have fun. It’s almost always packed, which honestly just tells you everything you need to know. Totally worth it!

Great food, a bit pricy. The Indian Trail.burger I has was perfectly cooked and I loved the deep fried onion in it. It came with three types of BBQ sauce ( Carolina, Texas, Kansas City) of which ynr KC was my favorite. I had heard their potato salad was good so I tried it and it was great. The staff is friend and stay busy. I highly recommend you try this place. They cook their ribs and brisket for 12 hours!!! The rib I had, the meat fell off the alone and was SO good.

Patio was BEAUTIFUL today! Plenty of space to kick back and enjoy the sunshine. He ordered the Ruben and coleslaw and only said about 10x “damn this is good” for the sandwich. Coleslaw was mild and basic.
I had the buffalo chicken sandwich made into a wrap and sweet potato fries. Perfect balance of the veggies and meats. Buffalo flavoring was mild (not spicy) and had a nice flavor. Sweet potato fries were ok, nothing particularly amazing.
The Bloody Mary was AMAZING! Definitely will return for that.

Erin provided some of the most excellent service that I have ever received at a restaurant ever! Sarah, who was only on her 3rd day there had a wonderful ability engaging patrons and making them feel at home in the dining and bar areas. I had the Rigdecrest Brisket Burger with a side Smoked Rib and side Mac n Cheese. I was informed that Lyle was the Master BBQ/Smoker of the food and that Rib was the cook who made and prepared it. Top scores to both of them as the food was thoroughly hot and fantastic to taste!!… I tried two different IPA taps and a double shot of a local Spokane liquor as well!! Thank you JJ’s Tap and Smokehouse for an amazing experience that will most definitely have me and others coming back for more!! I recommend this establishment to everyone looking for a top notch, step-above tap and Smokehouse experience!!!!

We’ve been dining at JJ’s for about 5 years now and they are consistently delicious.
The poppers are a must! Perfectly prepared with thick , smoked bacon and a creamy rich filling – served with a pepper jelly that compliments them nicely.
The tri tip dip and the Rueben are our favorites and our boys love the Mac and cheese.
This is a great spot for family gatherings or a night out with your favorite friends.
Sit in the bar and enjoy a variety of micro brews or a craft cocktail for a date night.
Totally fun atmosphere, quick friendly service and an all around great time
This is our favorite North Spokane go to !!!

I got a to-go order this evening for my husband and me. I am unable to eat dairy and was extremely specific about that when I placed the order. Once the food was home, I realized they did, in fact, put cheese on my salad. I called to report this issue, and the individual who took the call did not seem concerned at all. I had to repeat myself a couple of times, and after my statement, there was a long pause. Finally, he apologized and offered to remake it. I thanked him but let him know I didn’t want to return to the restaurant and asked if he could just refund the $16 salad. He said the only way he could do that was if I returned to the restaurant with the incorrect order. So, either way, I would have had to return because of their mistake. I do acknowledge I should have checked upon picking it up. However, the restaurant was closed for a private event this evening, and I was trying to get in and out without being too much of a hassle when I picked it up. I also had ordered a side of ranch for my husband. I was charged for it, but it was not provided. I expressed to the individual that I was frustrated because I had specifically stated that I couldn’t have dairy when I placed the order. He did not seem to care. So, I opted to toss the food and not receive a refund, which I find insane considering how overpriced it was. I had never been particularly impressed with the restaurant before, but the poor customer service tonight was really the icing on the cake. I have no intention to return in the future.

JJ’s makes the best barbecue I have eaten in the Spokane area. I truly love the fact that they smoke the meat in a shed right in the middle of the parking lot next to the building. This is authentic Southern-style barbecue. For example, the ribs don’t come drowned in sauce like so many Spokane BBQ joints. You get the ribs dry (they aren’t actually DRY, they are incredibly juicy and tender) and they taste PHENOMENAL all on their own. (They also come with sauce on the side, and they have 2 delicious options, but I prefer the spicier one with less sweetness.) You can get meats by the pound as well.
JJ’s has a sports tap house atmosphere that can be kind of loud (especially during a big game) but there is a designated bar area that is separate from the dining area, that has a large selection of drinks and pull tabs. But people of all ages can sit in the dining area, and there is also some seating outside for warmer weather.
It is a place I have often missed because of the location. It is hidden in what is essentially a small strip mall that isn’t visible from Indian Trail Road, and it’s directly attached to a Mexican restaurant (that I have heard is also good). Also, the “JJ’s” sign over the entrance is unassuming and doesn’t say “restaurant” to me, for some reason. Maybe it’s the font?
But I stopped in one Thursday, thinking I would get some usual bar food. But they have a Ribs Special on Thursday: $2 ribs. I’m so glad I tried it. I also got their BBQ beans for an inexpensive side, and I immediately could tell they were made from scratch (I verified this later). And I can honestly say that these were the best BBQ beans I’ve ever eaten. And I recently got a taco salad with their smoked chicken, which was so tender and flavorful.
Lastly, the servers are very helpful and friendly and attentive. I’ve been back many times now, and I’ve never been let down.
