Hands down best Mexican restaurant in Tampa area! Moving from Texas to Florida I was sadly disappointed in the lack of quality Mexican food. But I have found a gem! Updated review – My first trip to Guac n Cheese must have been on one of their busiest nights, as I have now been back twice and had an amazing experience.
Each visit service has been amazing, and the entrees are served in huge portions. The menu does lean slightly more towards Tex-Mex than Mexican.
Previously I had the Guac N Cheese burrito, this trip I had the Enchiladas with Shredded Chicken and Spicy Verde Sauce – and the portion size was spectacular.
The dining room is smaller and quite loud, but I’m not an interior designer so I am not sure how I would make the atmosphere more intimate.
So far this is the best Mexican restaurant I have found south of Bay-to-Bay, and plan to return many times again.

One standout dish was the jalapeño poppers. Unlike the usual fried versions you find elsewhere, these had a unique twist that really set them apart. The chicken flautas were also phenomenal—the shredded chicken was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and left us wanting more.
I highly recommend this spot and can’t wait to come back. Guac n Cheese has officially earned a spot on my favorites list!

I tried this restaurant because of the name. I’m not sure if there is a better name for a restaurant. I took my seat and they immediately brought out free chips and salsa. I ordered the pork enchiladas. They were cooked to perfection and the pork was tender and juicy. The service was polite and attentive, but so overbearing like many servers can be. This was a fantastic experience with great food, and a great atmosphere.

We were finally all in agreement to go to Guac n cheese and we were all very happy. Tacos and fries for the kids, the guac n cheese burrito was delicious! I ended up trying the Sangria and it was one of the better ones I have had! Super friendly staff and we were pleasantly surprised of the spaciousness inside and lots of seating.
