Welcome to Ethiopian heaven! ✨
From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The food was absolutely mouthwatering — rich, flavorful, and unlike anything our taste buds have experienced before. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of authentic Ethiopian spices that made each bite unforgettable.
Issac, our server, was incredible. He took the time to walk us through the menu and helped us choose the perfect dishes. His recommendations were spot on and made the entire experience even better.
The combination of amazing food and outstanding service made this a night to remember. We can’t wait to come back for more! ✨

Absolutely outstanding experience! As out-of-town visitors, we were blown away by the authentic flavors and warm hospitality. Our group of 4 shared a huge family-style platter with both meat and vegetarian options.
A huge shoutout to our waiter Yohannes, who was exceptional! He patiently guided us through the menu, recommended the perfect combo for our group, and even shared great tips on local spots to check out around Atlanta since we were visiting from out of state. Highly recommend

Desta was incredible! If you don’t read the whole review, read that first line. We went for a corporate dinner and the interior is really well-decorated, and lively, even for a Tuesday night! Our server, whose name started with M (apologies, but huge shoutout) was so kind and accommodating, especially with the group’s dietary needs and allergies. She was also really friendly, which made it easier to ask questions and take our time with our selection. The ginger cocktail (like a mule) was so tasty, and we loved the beef spring rolls. We got the meat lovers and vegan platters to share among 5 people, which was perfect but we did have a lot left over. The red lentils and chicken were the fan favorites, and as always, it’s such a fun experience dining family-style. Would return again and recommend!

Lovely experience at Desta! The restaurant decor is tasteful, good for a lunch or dinner with family or friends. You could also have a date night here. I dined in for lunch. The portions are generous. We ordered the meat plate and chose three meats and also got side vegetables (gomen, cabbage and lentils) and ingera. All were very well seasoned. The gomen was a little spicy. We had lamb, ribeye, and salmon. This a great option if you like variety. We ordered the hot tea and honey wine. The hot tea has spiced water and is delicious. The honey wine was sweet and paired well with the meal. Highly recommend Desta!

This location was very busy on a week night and for good reason! I sat at the bar, although they had a small table for two available near the door.
The bartender was very knowledgeable about the food and recommended a few dishes since it was my first time there. He even explained Ethiopia’s history with Italy after I questioned the pasta dishes. I decided to try one.
The pasta dish I ordered was prefect on every way! I am very particular about my pasta, but they exceeded my expectations! The noodle was cooked al dente, the sauce was tasty, but not overbearing, and they brought the food out piping hot!
The atmosphere was family oriented. It was loud but you could still have a conversation Everyone was very cheerful and the staff were all pleasant.
I would definitely return!

This is truly one of the neatest and cleanest restaurants I’ve ever visited. As a vegetarian, I tried their vegan plate, and it was delicious — beautifully balanced spices that bring out the flavor without overwhelming the palate. I can’t say how close it is to traditional Ethiopian food, but it felt thoughtfully prepared and perfectly suited for anyone who appreciates clean, comforting flavors. And their Ethiopian tea — wow. Fragrant, soothing, and perfectly balanced — such a treat!
The staff were genuinely kind and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back

Yooo this place is unreal!! Gluten free teff injera (thank you x10000) and delicious meat combo, I added the cheese as an extra. So worth it. Best Ethiopian food I’ve had in a while! Make sure you make a reservation yall, this place stays busy for a reason. Even with a reservation we waited but it was a holiday. Come through!!

We’ve been coming to Desta for years. I’m loving the new location. It feels so much cleaner and upscale than the old house. Injera is such a treat of you’ve never had it before. One of my favorite types of bread. Both chicken and steak are delicious and seasoned perfectly. Can’t recommend this place enough. They’re always amazing every time we go.

I usually get Ethiopian food from Bahel, but I ended up ordering from desta because the food was BOGO on Uber eats. The food was okay. Not the best ribs I’ve had. The sauce was flavourless and I feel like the food is not really authentic. I’ve never seen a place where they charge up to $4.60 extra for meat, because tibs is a meat dish. I was only given 3 small rolls of injera, which was not enough for the tibs, and the tibs was the most oily I’ve ever seen. I used to go to desta years ago but I don’t think I can go back. $30 for one awaze tibs is insane. I’m very disappointed because I’ve heard good things about desta, but I will not be returning unfortunately.

Best Ethiopian food in Atlanta. I’m vegan and truly enjoyed dining here. I ordered the vegan platter (a sampler of hot and cold items). Everything on the platter was flavorful! The service was also great.
My faves were the greens, lentils, mushrooms & potatoes stews. This will be my go to restaurant for dinner whenever I’m in the Buckhead/ Brookhaven area.
