I haven’t been in years and it was just as I remembered, AMAZING. I ordered the catfish filet with mild seasoning, Mac, and collards. It tasted like someone made it with love and intention, a wonderful place for quick soul food. The customer service was also fantastic! The woman cashier upfront was lovely, so sweet on the phone and to my face. 10/10, no notes.

This was my first visit to any Eugene’s location, i found it on google maps just looking for a place for lunch today. I came in and had a wonderful experience, the lady taking my order helped me decide what to get and she was very kind! My food was delicious, crispy chicken, large portions, and amazing sides & sauces.

A Great Spot for Chicken Lovers!
Went to Eugene’s and it was a fantastic experience. The place has a cool, lively vibe with all the flyers on the wall—it makes you feel like you’re in the center of the action.
And the food was even better. I got the southern style wings and it was perfectly crispy and flavorful. The mac and cheese was delicious and creamy, and the cornbread were a great side.
Everything tasted fresh and well-made. It’s a definite must-try if you’re looking for some great chicken.

Nice place with good chicken. I really liked the southern fried style chicken. I did not care for the mildly hot chicken at all. The heat sauce kinda ruined the skin for me, but I’m a southern fried type of guy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good with a little skin in them. We liked the muffins and found the fried pickled okra interesting and tasty.
It’s not as good as Luverne’s Chicken Shack, but it’s really good southern fried chicken!

Got the family feast (tenders) with fries and Mac and cheese. Plenty of food to feed my family (wife and I plus four youngins). Everything we had was delicious and fresh. Really great staff as well that were helpful and friendly.

Customer service and atmosphere were great.
I got the hot flavored chicken, not hot at all. The flavor was good but I guess I need to step it up. I also had the Pickled okra, not a fan for me. Cooks need to wash hands after taking a smoke break, just putting on gloves doesn’t work.

I’ve tried a lot of chicken places but Eugene’s is the bomb ! Biggest chicken wings I’ve seen in a long time. Great beans. They put some charred meat in them like crunchy pork rinds. Love it.

First time eating here. The food was good. Kind of like Hattie B’s hot chicken. The wings were good. The fries were good. Service was a little slow. It took us like 20 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered until they put it on the table. The restaurant was clean and the employees were nice. I would absolutely go back again and recommend you try it yourself.

This was my first visit and unfortunately my last. I was excited to try Eugene’s Hot Chicken in Hoover. My family and I arrived therea little after 11. (The start of business) we order a kids meal, which didnt come with a beverage and offer a small amount of food for the amount paid. We also order chicken and waffles, a chicken sandwich, fried pickled okra, a banana pudding (which was very small for 4 dollar), a lemonade, and a fountain beverage. The cashier didnt notice there were no lemonades available. I asked Mr. Eugene if he could take off the lemonade and proceed with the remaining order. He stated he couldn’t and told us he voided the whole transaction and we would have to place another order minus the 6 dollar lemonade. I gave this establishment over 2 weeks to refund me the initial amount I paid plus tip. My husband called and later I was refunded the amount paid as a tip but not the food or lemonade that wasn’t received. They also forgot to give us the fried pickled okra and the sauce. The meal I had was under cooked and the waffles were basic for the price. My husband sandwich was good and my son enjoy his chicken tender and fries. I was really excited about trying this restaurant but its not worth the stress of the hype. Would not recommend and if I could I would rate this establishment a zero.

Food was good, but little on the crunchy side, mild was spicy for me. Fries were DELICIOUS! I’m not one who likea or handle spicy very well. But overall I’d try it again just order something different. The employees were exceptional on customer service.
