Walking into The Crab Trap for a birthday dinner and immediately dealing with that wall of restaurant noise where you’re half talking and half lip reading across the table. The music was a little louder than it needed to be, so we were leaning in just to hear each other most of the night.
That said, the place really delivered where it matters. Service was excellent. Our server stayed on top of drinks, checked in at the right times, and everything moved along smoothly without feeling rushed.
I ordered the Admirals Saute, which is shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat in a garlic butter sauce over cappellini. The seafood was cooked right and the portion was fair. Not one of those plates where you’re hunting around the pasta trying to find the seafood they promised. Everything tasted fresh and the sauce was actually worth finishing.
Overall the food was great and the service was spot on. If they knocked the music down a notch it would make the table conversation a lot easier, but that’s really the only complaint I had.

I came out for an early dinner on a Friday with my mother and sister. We were seated quickly. Our sever Tom was personable and pleasant. He had excellent suggestions and really made our dining experience special. The food was amazing, of course. The preparation and presentation are always next level. We love the soup 1-1-1 so we can try each of their delicious soups. Even the salad dressing, which is made in-house, is delectable. We finished the meal with a banana cream pie, recommended by our server, which is not to be missed. You don’t leave hungry, but you do leave looking forward to your next visit.

You can trap me at this fabulous restaurant any time! Had a family event on a Saturday so had a preview the night before. The menu says Jersey scallops. The best, period. They didn’t lie. Cooked to tender perfection, bathing in butter. Plenty to eat with a baked potato and veggies. The crusted halibut, huge and boy, do they know how to cook fish! Flaky, tender, yet a nice exterior crust. The admiral sautee had everything you could want, shrimp, scallops, and lump crab galore! And, the next day, same! Delicious!!

Had lunch with my girlfriend at the Crab Trap yesterday afternoon. We had oysters, tuna tacos, a beet salad, and a Manhattan Clam Chowder. Everything was excellent a magnificent place with great service. We will definitely be going back!

The food, drinks, and service at the Crab Trap is second to none. All of the seafood is beyond fresh, and tastes fantastic. I will say, the wait can be a bit long, so get there plenty early. If you are visiting the shore and want quality seafood, this is the place to go. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and as expected the crab was second to none. If I could I would rate this a 100/10.

Very good quality food, we were a party of 6 and all got different things and they were all good.
Our server Dariana was exceptional – smile on her face no matter what ridiculous thing we asked for, no matter how fast we drained our beverages. And this at the end of what had clearly been a very long shift.
The place was packed when we got there, clearly the locals love it.
It is a very large amount of food – it’s not stated on the menu that entrees also get a vegetable and starch side in addition to the salad!

The Crab Trap has been my favorite restaurant down the shore since I was a kid, and going back this year did not disappoint! The seafood is as fresh as can be, and I don’t think you can go wrong. The 1-1-1 soup appetizer of Crab Bisque, Maryland Crab Soup & Clam Chowder was great, and I ended up ordering a giant bowl of Crab Bisque after. The crab cakes, whether deviled or not, are perfect, and my wife said it’s the best she’s ever had! The atmosphere feels like a beach restaurant, with a location that’s easy to get to and a nearby waterside bar.

Had a wonderful dinner last night our server Stacy was the best -everything we ate was delicious their food is very consistent. Had the Wahoo special w/ crab & lobster sauce. 2 twin lobster tails and prime rib. Apps two hot combos they were delish

8-27-25 another great dinner at The Crab Trap worth the hour wait. Our server guerlain was most efficient anything we needed was there in a Flash. I had the Halibut special hubby had the swordfish special two hot combos apps banana cream pie to top it off it was delicious.
