Update: this bakery has some of the best char-siu puffs, naturally we came back a couple days later to load up. A wonderful small bakery with a huge taste.
Original Review: This old time Hong Kong bakery is well known among the locals. We just tried a couple items today, the sesame buns and char-siu buns, both were better than others we had on Oahu. The staff was very friendly and busy! This place was hopping with a lot of customers waiting and a large number of workers rushing to get the orders ready. It reminded me of bakeries in the old days back in Asia. We will now stop by this bakery every time we are in Chinatown.

Taro steamed bun – 3.75 stars
Generous with filling, not too sweet, but should be served hot/kept in a warmer as the bun was hard. Will need to steam it again when we’re home.
Green bean pork rice dumplings

I have been coming here since my favorite bakery shut down in Chinatown. Sing Cheong Yuan’s food such as their pork hash is so delicious and stuffed full of tasty pork. I also would recommend the half moons as the dough is subtle and the filling has a nice texture and taste. Of course the classic manapua is always good. I would suggest coming to this bakery and you won’t be disappointed.

This place must be carrying old recipes, the old fashion Cantonese taste is authentic and great! Don’t let the looks deceive you, the items I tried were good! Egg tart, zongzi with beans, egg, pork(green leaf wrapped with sticky rice inside). Tasty coconut candy.

Almost everything we tried here was good. The shumai, half moons, and shrimp dumplings stand out the most for me. I will defiantly be coming back here again

The HarGau prawn dimsum was very big and tasty. The fills inside the park bau was very good too but I don’t like the bun per se. The siewmai tastes okay but a bit too oily. The savory rice dumpling was really huge but reasonable with such price. Overall, it’s a good pace to feed your appetite craving for Cantonese dimsum but don’t expect it too much to be authentic.

This place has the best Manapua on Oahu. The bun has the right amount of sweetness to it but not overwhelming and the meat inside is delicious. Don’t be intimidated if you see a line going out the door because it goes very fast with all the girls at the counter working efficiently with speed. The sticky rice siu mai is a must try to accompany the Manapua.
