Used to be ok but now it’s just awful. Just ordered chimichanga and it was like no other chimichanga I’ve ever had ever. Loaded with tomatoes and cubed meat that looked like dog food instead of every other chimichanga I’ve ever had in my life that comes with shredded meat. No flavor other than a hint of tomatoes. Came with rice and beans that were the consistency of soup. Very watery. Wait time for drive thru was about 30 mins as well. Not going back here again.

What a Rip-Off
I ordered two carne asada fries at 8:30 PM, and what I got was a complete joke. Burnt meat, greasy fries, and none of the toppings — no guac, no sour cream, nothing. If you’re out of ingredients, fine, but tell the customer before charging $35 for garbage.
To make it worse, I asked for extra salsa and got two tiny containers like it was some kind of favor. The food was lazy, the service was careless, and this whole experience felt like a last-minute cash grab before closing.
Won’t be back, and I’ll make sure others know to avoid this place too.

They need to make some improvements. The building is pretty run down and when we came in for lunch there were no lights, no music and only two gals working. There was only one other guest and so we almost thought they were closed. My daughter ordered fries and it didn’t come out though they made it right. The food didn’t have a lot of flavor. You will be served on paper plates with plastic silverware. I ordered the 2 Enchiladas combo and I got what looked like 3 taquitos. When I asked about it she confirmed it was enchiladas. My food was just warm, not hot. The worst part was our bill. They charge about what a more fancy Mexican restaurant would charge but they are set up like a drive through almost fast food type place. For our family of 5 (kids 5, 6 and 8) the bill was $60! They charged the already steep $8 kids meals at $10 each! (We ate at Dos Hombres in GJ a few days later and the bill was $56!) They were nice ladies at Los Carnales, but they need to make some upgrades.

I’d give zero stars if I could. I’d rather eat Taco Bell than this place and I avoid Taco Bell at all cost. Got tacos and they hardly had meat on them. The meat that it did have was dry and lacked seasoning. Beans and rice were watered down and pretty tasteless as well. Would not recommend.

Fantastic breakfast burritos served all day! Great prices, especially since one breakfast burrito is enough to split in two and share or save half for another meal. I’ve only ever gotten takeout, but the inside is cute and cozy. Very friendly staff. (Tip: order extra breakfast burritos … they freeze well for breakfasts later!)

I ordered a shredded beef taco and a carnitas street taco and both were excellent. The pickled carrots. jalapeños, and onions were delicious and fermented and the salsa was nice and spicy. The chips were served hot with not a lot of salt. If you want an authentic Mexican place for a decent price, this is your place. I highly recommend Irene and her family. Support local businesses! Eat here

Had the machaca con huevos for breakfast, it was delicious! Came back for dinner and ordered chile relleno and costilla tacos!

Best Mexican Food on this side of the state! I go to CMU in Grand Junction and tried finding a good Mexican fast food restaurant but couldn’t find any in the area til I went to this one, we got my favorite choice which was the Carnitas Pork Dinner Plate and oh my lord! My mouth cried, the pork was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and moistened. The guacamole, the mashed beans, the rice, all 10/10. Even the lettuce and tomato were fresh and perfect. This was exactly what I was looking for in good Mexican food. It reminded me my favorite one at my hometown, Colorado Springs. Although the Horchata we got tasted dusty instead of hinting that slight hint of rice flavor. But Horchata is usually a speciality made drink so we didn’t care much for it.
Highly recommend this place!
